Goals
To write, edit and improve Wikipedia's entries (specifically stubs) relating to Multnomah County, past and present
To teach inexperienced editors how to contribute to Wikipedia
To show community members the resources available through the Multnomah County Library system
Suggested articles
Multnomah County Library staff selected stub articles for Wikipedia Loves Libraries 2012, considering two main factors in the process. First, they listed the stub articles marked as top and high importance by WikiProject Oregon. Most of these pertain to the whole state of Oregon and are listed in the first section below. Second, they selected stubs relevant to Multnomah County (and environs, in some cases), considering the Multnomah County Library resources that might be useful in adding information to the articles. These are listed in the second section below, broken down into topics.

September 22: User:Another Believer arranged a private, "behind-the-scenes" tour of the Central Library, partly to photograph the building's interior and exterior and partly to begin collaborating with the Multnomah County Library system as part of WLL; more than 170 photographs were uploaded to Commons as part of Wikipedia Takes Portland 2012 and Wiki Loves Monuments 2012!
October 24: The edit-athon was mentioned in Willamette Week...
Cizmar, Martin (2012-10-24). "Headout: (citation needed)". Willamette Week. Retrieved 2012-10-24. Wikipedia is, for better or worse, "the largest collection of shared knowledge in human history." No library can compete; the Multnomah County Library isn't trying. On Saturday, Oct. 27, the Central Library stages an Edit-athon where you are encouraged to "write, edit and improve" entries related to Multnomah County. "Occasionally, Wikipedia gets stuff wrong, or an important topic doesn't appear in its millions of virtual pages," the library says. "You can help to change this!"

October 27: Community members, ranging from newly-registered users to experienced Wikipedians, and library staff resulted in a group more than a dozen strong. Questions were answered, advice was shared, and library staff provided access to literature and other resources to allow participants to work on Multnomah County-related articles. Thanks to everyone for making the event a success, and THANK YOU to Multnomah County Library for hosting! I look forward to the next Portland meetup! --Another Believer(Talk) 03:22, 28 October 2012 (UTC)
