• This user uploaded many images without any information, which were deleted. Then he uploaded many images claiming fair-use, which were then deleted. Then he uploaded a ton of images and tagged them GFDL, but there is reason to doubt the claim. They are many different cameras in the metadata, and some don't have metadata at all. Most images are orphans anyway. • Comment The past history doesn't look good, but as for the selection of cameras, it is certainly reasonable for a photographer to be using a compact camera for all the shots that it will work for (much more convenient), and then switching to a DSLR for shots like File:Nicolae Balcesco Boulevard by night.jpg that really require more camera. The Canon PowerShot A95 photos are in a series, which could reflect someone seeking out the photos with the purpose of uploading them to Wikipedia. There are 4 Cameras in the meta data of the nominated photos, 3 compacts, and 1 DSLR, two with metadata replaced by an image editing software, and the rest with none. • Delete all (including the ones that are currently listed not here but on FFD). Several of the ones listed here that have survived so far were uploaded in direct sequence with others that were identified as obvious copyvios already back in 2006. (e.g. File:Panorama-Nocturna (Cluj-Napoca).jpg was uploaded only half an hour after File:Palatul Parlamentului din Panorama.jpg, a proven copyvio.) This is incompatible even with the AGF scenario described by Monty845 – somebody "really into photography" would not mix in their own high-quality work with stolen items like this. It's troubling to see that this editor was allowed to continue like this for several years. I really do not know where the best place would be so if it is wrong I'm sorry about that. All (or almost all?) the uploads have text like "Copyrights by http://www.dmitrimarkine.com". Example: File:Niagra Falls01.jpg. See other uploads here.

Some of the users uploads have been deleted because of lack of permission for example File:Race 06.jpg.

The user claims to be the owner of the website. The user does not seem to be willing to send a formal permission - probably because he is upset about something.

So it seems this is a matter of trust. Either we trust the user and we can undelete the deleted files or we do not trust the uploader and delete all of ther other files.

Some of the files have been moved to Commons and has "survived there". That does not mean that Commons has desided that we can keep all the photos - it could also mean that noone spotted the files yet.

Personally I would prefer a permission but I see no reason not to trust that it is own work. --MGA73 (talk) 21:29, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent him a message through the "contact" section of his website, and sent the same to the e-mail address listed on his blog. My message said:

Greetings! A user on Wikipedia has claimed to be you, and has uploaded a number of photos from this website to Wikipedia. That user's page is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dmitri1999 Is this you? If so, then great! This should clear things up so we don't have any more confusion. But if it's not you, please let us know, and we'll remove the images from our servers. (We certainly don't want to violate your copyright on these amazing pictures!) Thanks so much!
