• Delete many. Images that are not public domain in the United States are considered non-free per Wikipedia and Commons policy. These images are not public domain in the United States. (A photo needed to be public domain in Australia as of 1996 to be public domain in the United States now, and these were not public domain in Australia as of that date.) Many of these images do not meet the WP:NFCC. Some that do in my opinion:
  • An infobox image to show what a deceased person looks like: File:Alice Betteridge knitting.jpg, File:BernieSmith.jpg, File:Charlie Sutton.jpg, File:Darcy Dugan 1949.jpg, File:Francis Hassett AWM HOBJ2314.jpg, File:JackSheedy.jpg, File:John Coleman.jpg, File:John Ewart Jimmy The Argonauts 1.jpg, File:JohnLandy Malvern.jpg, File:KeithMiller1954.jpg (but note that many many other images in this article also appear to be non-free in the us and should be deleted), File:Len Pye.gif, File:MervMcIntosh.jpg, File:Nan Chauncy.jpg, File:Neil Davies.jpg, File:Rex Garwood.gif, File:SteveMarsh.jpg, File:Stuart Spencer.jpg
    • For the bio photos, it may be worth investigating for some of these people whether we could locate a pre-1946 photo that would be PD in the US. Also if these images are kept they will need to be removed from non-biography pages.

• Delete all for various reasons:

1. Per Wikipedia policy, free files need to be free in the United States. However, it is irrelevant if they are free in any other country or not. The mentioned website only provides the copyright status in Australia which doesn't have to be the same as the copyright status in the United States. In particular, Australian photos taken in 1946 or later are always copyrighted in the United States.
2. Some photos don't seem to have any real source. At least one of the photos had a dead link, so it wasn't possible to find a year of creation at all. Such photos might be copyrighted in both Australia and the United States. Some of them might be pre-1946 photos, but without more information, we would have to delete them as improperly sourced.
3. In many cases, there is no evidence of publication. The pre-1946 rule only applies to photos which were published before 1 March 1989 (and not even to all of them). If unpublished, Australian photos are copyrighted for either life+70 years or creation+120 years in the United States, depending on the photographer's employment terms. This also applies to pre-1946 photos.
4. Some photos may be eligible for fair use. However, per wmf:Resolution:Licensing policy, images under a fair use claim have to be clearly indicated as being kept under a fair use claim. These images are not currently indicated as being kept under a fair use claim. If file information pages and image use are adjusted to fit WP:NFCC (including WP:NFCC#10c), I don't mind keeping images.
