Windows 7 Explorer view[edit]

I already asked this question a couple of months ago.

" I am running Win7Pro. I have 2 nominally identical usb data sticks (32GB).

When viewed in windows explorer (in "Details" mode), one has columns

Name Date modified Type Size

the other has columns

Name Type Total size Space free

The former just lists folders and files in order The latter insists on grouping the root directory into types of file.

How do I stop the latter doing this and make it like the first stick. "

CHINEESE MALWARES[edit]

is there any way to delete or remove malwares and trojans from pc without using any antivirus softwares.recently my system has been flooded with malwares and trojans each time i connect the web.i tried uninstalling them,removing from c:\ ,used essetnode,360 total security but nothing worked.the antivirus program usually terminates my network connection with a message "attack via mysql vulnerability/5.5..........".most of the malwares operate in chineese looking script.they will slow down pc,run their program etc.I even tried disabling them in task manager and like ending the task.most of them run as background processes.I never had such problems before with web.Is it like DARK TIMES OF BROWSING".THE OS IS WIN8.ANY SUGGESTIONS OR MAYBE SOLUTIONS115.244.239.253 (talk) 17:54, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If it can be removed without extra software, I would not call it malware. Unfortunately, the super-effective freeware program I would recommend does not have a Windows 8 version. Ian.thomson (talk) 18:04, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

HTML arrow key detection[edit]

I have this HTML/Javascript code:

It works fine, except that I want to detect when an arrow key is pressed anywhere on the page, not just within a text box, which is how it behaves now. How do I do that ? (The object is to navigate through a maze I've drawn on the screen.) StuRat (talk) 20:01, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried putting the onkeydown handler on the body? BTW you missed the closing > on the body tag. If this doesn't work, try a

Software sought[edit]

Hello, what software is used to create a 'banking' software and ~~'grossary'~~ grocery (ASDA) market software? I would like to learn/collect/buy the softwares...

I'm not sure how to explain this, its the interface you see in the computer, 'full' screen. You definitely need a programming software to create such interface application. 'imaging' software (I have Photoshop and GIMP; not good with any whatsoever) is also required but I don't know ~~which one the~~ what is out there i.e. good/best ~~one~~, what will do anything and everything...;recommendation would be of a great help too.

I don't what is out there Can someone please guide me? I need a software(s) that can do both! I need to create a software system(s)...

I suspect that ASDA paid a six-figure sum for its software, a cost which is probably beyond the means of most hobbyists to purchase, but there's no reason why you couldn't learn to imitate the style and functionality for a smaller database. If you could explain exactly what you want to do, then perhaps someone could guide you on appropriate software. Photoshop and GIMP are excellent for preparing the images that you intend to use. If you want to create web pages to display products then you will either need to learn HTML etc (we have Category:HTML editors) or use a WYSIWYG editor. Experts here could probably make a recommendation (I still use the outdated Nvu). Then there's the payment side which is separate software and depends on what payment methods you allow. If you are hoping to achieve all the functionality of ASDA's website, then it's a very big project. Dbfirs 09:07, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About webpage editors: Initially I wished to possess Adobe Dreamweaver 8.0.2, current version is called CS4. I've been advised to use Kompozer (download the latest development version: 0.8b3 (2010-02-28) if you wish) as it is very similar to MS Frontpage. I've also done a bit of research after viewing your post, although the three (Frontpage, Nvu, Kompozer) are similar, Kompozer is apperantly a better version of Nvu. See if you like it. I've downloaded it recently, I have not started using it though... If you suggest me using Nvu after analysis, please provide me the downloadable link of what you are using.
About the software: I know! I must say, most of the money goes under 'formalities' and 'time'... I'm planning to buy the softwares first, whatever is required in order to create the two softwares. Its hard to get it here... Database wise, I understand MS Access/Excel can be used; I've both 2003's and 2010's version. Unfortunately MS Frontpage 2003 did not come with my Office 2003's version, what I used once only in my life time and loved it...

I've used both Dreamweaver and FrontPage in the past, but old versions, and so long ago that I can't even remember which had better features, but I think Dreamweaver. I wasn't recommending Nvu, just commenting that it's been superseded. You might also like to look at Comparison of object-relational database management systems, but I'm not qualified to make recommendations. Dbfirs 23:26, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You stated you are still using Nvu, I thought I check it out since you stated. Another Wikipedian advised me Kompozer as he/she found it easier to use for them-self, was quite similar to MS frontpage, what I was searching for, I thought of advising it you as well as finding out the discrepency from you if possible, that's if it interested you... View the link ^[1]! For the record, I'm also not qualified either, still mentioning since I recalled after viewing the link you provided, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server were popular around year 2008. I have Oracle and MS SQL Server CDs, have not installed/used/learnt it yet... Thanks btw

What are you wanting the software to do? For accounting, GnuCash is a good free option; it is a double-entry accounting system, and I think it has some facility for keeping track of billing and accounts receivable. I'm finding it hard to elaborate...

Basically, I wish to create an interface possessing 'alpha' and 'numeric' keys with panes, tabs, and fields, which allows you to add, edit/modify/amend, delete, query/retrieve desired entries, wish to keep records of customers/clients, similar to a 'banking' software to be honest. 'ASDA' type software, presuming it to be as the 'banking' type software, I want to insert image buttons for some cases, use the barcode number...

Hi, I'm struggling to understand what you're asking. When you say grocery (ASDA) market software do you mean the software that runs on the Point of sale terminal that the checkout operators at ASDA would use? If so, I don't think it would have much if anything in common with software used in banking (incidentally, I believe ASDA use POS software based on IBM's 4690 product family). Inconsistent Google Search hit counts[edit]

Several hours ago, I did a Google search for a three-word phrase, in quotes, to determine my position in a move request. It showed over 9.9 million hits. The same search now shows 115,000 hits, which no longer supports my position. Google's hit counts for multiword phrases are basically wild guesses. It doesn't actually search every page in its archive for the phrase. If you want more reliable data try Ngram Viewer. -- BenRG (talk) 03:05, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As an example, when you posted this yesterday, Google (for me) estimated 4.9M hits for cats hate water (first page estimate #). Just now it's showing 8.8M. 4,710,000 when I search google.co.nz, 3,750,000 for google.com.my. Both done from a NZ ISP. I was using IE11 because I'm not logged in there and have little cookie history. As a slight aside, if you add &pws=0 to the query, then google (supposedly) turns of the Personal Web Search and ignores your search/browsing history. LongHairedFop (talk) 12:13, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was told the trick is to click throuhg to the LAST page of search results, google will narrow down on a far more accurate result. Remember that Google themselves say they will only show up to 1000 hits no matter how many exist. In reality, the number may be less even if there are more than 1000 since I believe the 1000 comes before they deduplicate etc. Nil Einne (talk) 07:46, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
