Nomination[edit]

Editorofthewiki (talk · contribs) – Hey yall, it's me, Eddy.

It's been a while since my last RFA, which failed miserably, and I think it is about time to throw my hat into the ring again. I've been around since early 2008 and have around 18,000 edits. I used to be super active, but then sort of burned out about a year ago. Now I edit around 50 times a month. While this may be cause for concern for some, hear me out. Nowadays I browse Wikipedia more than I edit, but I still keep up on current issues here. I do have a life outside of Wikipedia, and some things (school, sports, etc.) take precedence over Wikipedia.

I've caused some troubles in the past, but I hope I have matured as an editor since then. If I screw up the tools, I am willing to be desysopped. So, let's start this headache! :) ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 01:40, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:

I accept. :) ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 01:55, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I would, for the most part, just use the tools to help with my editing. For example, I might block a vandal I've noticed or delete a page listed at speedy deletion. Sine I have experience with DYK, that would probably be my primary administrative area.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: All of them. :) No, I would probably say Lazare Ponticelli and 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake, my two featured articles. I also have a couple GAs and about 80 DYKs that I am proud of. In addition, I am currently trying to bring Magnum Rolle and Hubert Maga up to FA status. All the stubs I've created on African villages, I think, has greatly expanded the scope of the project.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: Yes, and I am ashamed. As anyone can tell, my block log is not clean, and none of that was accidental on the blocking admin's part. However, I think I have matured and would never put myself in a position in which I would get enraged. If someone were to upset me, I would simply calm myself and approach the situation in a productive manner.

Discussion[edit]

Support[edit]
  1. Support. Inactivity is not such a bad thing, and 50 edits a month is plenty. Bwrs (talk) 03:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    This user hasn't been active for a very long time. Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 03:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose[edit]
  1. This is a joke, right? Malleus Fatuorum 02:01, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    Umm, no, thank you. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:02, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  2. I can't support at this time, due to the lack of activity. You don't seem as though you would use the tools too terribly often. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 02:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm curious: how would that be a problem? If I only use them once, that would still help wikipedia. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:18, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Oppose: Conflict comes with the admin territory. If you can't handle it constructively, you probably shouldn't have the mop. Toddst1 (talk) 02:23, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not to badger you, but my last issues came quite a while ago. I believe that I can handle conflict in a positive manner now. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:27, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Oppose and recommend withdrawal. Fairly or not, I'm sensing indifference from the candidate about the past issues. Mere passage of time isn't enough to resolve. Townlake (talk) 02:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Oppose I can't support an editor that's been blocked repeatedly. I recommend withdrawal or closure per WP:SNOW, whichever comes first. Coasterlover1994Leave your mark! 02:51, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So far as I understand, this editor was blocked only once, and that was over 2 years ago. Bwrs (talk) 03:13, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Editor has been blocked twice. Yes, it was 2 years ago, but I just can't trust someone that was once blocked for a valid reason. Coasterlover1994Leave your mark! 04:02, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Oppose I'm sorry, but I have a very hard time supporting you with your past blocks and issues with edit warring. A8x (talk) 03:03, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Strong Oppose Not nearly active enough, and you don't seem trustworthy enough for the admin tools. Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 03:05, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What could I do to prove I'm trustworthy? If this RfA is going to fail, I would at least like some constructive criticism out of it. Perhaps its me, but I don't see how inactivity would affect how I handle the tools. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 04:18, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  8. Oppose Not active enough. I've made more total edits than you've made for at least a year, and I wouldn't dream of running for admin yet. --Andrensath (talk | contribs) 04:21, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  9. Oppose - Going through this user's archived talk pages was illuminating and a little troubling. I'm not providing diffs as it's all very ostensible. Lack of maturity. Wisdom89 (T / C) 04:32, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Oppose being blocked for harrassment and edit warring are signs of temperament problems. Minimac (talk) 04:42, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  11. Oppose I don't see a pressing need for you to have the tools. Fifty edits a month is fine, you don't need to live on Wikipedia, but the tools are not some trophy to put up on the shelf. I wont support unless I have reason to believe that you need the tools and will use them responsibly. --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 04:52, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  12. Oppose - Concerns about temperament, and activity. -- Cirt (talk) 05:06, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  13. Oppose - Srsly? - Dwayne was here! 06:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  14. Oppose- not yet. Reyk YO! 06:13, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral[edit]
Neutral, for now. I don't see any recent problems, but I can't see a detailed analysis of your edits until you opt in to the edit counter monthly edits feature. Just create an empty page here. Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 02:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC) Moved to Oppose[reply]
I clicked on that page, pressed enter, and nothing happened. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think MediaWiki lets you create empty pages. You have to put something in it. It doesn't matter what it is, the page just has to exist. Reach Out to the Truth 02:19, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So I could just type rtyutynhftyjtyntyj and the thing would work? ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:21, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I guess so... Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 02:22, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I did that. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 02:26, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
