Users have similar edit interests in fixing pipelinks against WP:NOTBROKEN standards. This includes the same type of edit at COVID related articles (mastersock) and football related articles (mastersock) Think this is clear enough for a WP:DUCK block. only (talk) 15:07, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Only: thanks, I was just making the same report...
I saw similar edits 40 minutes apart in the same article by Myspersson: [1] then Kung Hibbe: [2], both "fixing" links to redirects. Both accounts also needlessly capitalize existing piped links. I left warnings for each, and since Kung Hibbe had already ignored numerous warnings, they were blocked. Compare their unblock request: [3] to Myspersson's response: [4].
Both users have been doing the same thing on both Swedish Wikipedia, where they were both created, and Dutch Wikipedia, and have received numerous complaints about it, going back years. Compare this comment [5]:
Maybe there are readers who find it annoying when they follow a link and it says they were redirected. I find it annoying myself and try to make it easier for those readers. I avoid redirects in other language versions as well and nobody is threatening to block me. Kung Hibbe (talk) 20:29, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
With this (from Dutch Wikipedia via Google Translate) [6]
Maybe there are readers who are annoyed when they follow a link and it says it has been redirected. I find it annoying and try to make it easier for those readers. Myspersson (concert) 21 Aug 2020 16:44 (CEST)
There's much more evidence, if necessary let me know. --IamNotU (talk) 16:28, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
CheckUser requested - The alleged master is denying it on their talk; technical results could be helpful. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:42, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In progress - Mz7 (talk) 04:45, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed. The accounts consistently avoid using the same device, but nevertheless I think there is sufficient technical overlap plus behavioral evidence to conclude these are the same user. Because of Kung Hibbe's statements to the contrary [7], I will be blocking that account indefinitely. Blocked and tagged, closing. Mz7 (talk) 04:57, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Repeating reverted edit of sock Myspersson: [8], [9], unnecessarily "fixing" links to redirects. Adjusting links in various sports articles and templates. Account is also active on Swedish Wikipedia like the others. IamNotU (talk) 14:06, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I engaged with a few other accounts with similar patterns last summer but didn't raise an SPI as I couldn't find the puppetmaster. None remain active, and the only one I recall the name of is indef blocked, but there may be others I didn't spot. Certes (talk) 14:52, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This account is Confirmed to PaToGnOmOn. I'm going to block without tags for now, because checkuser data currently available makes me very confident that both of these accounts are socks of Kung Hibbe. I can't see whether or not there is a connection to Gexajutyr, who now stale, but based on the editing interests it seems likely that all three are actually socks of Kung Hibbe. Pinging Canterbury Tail and NinjaRobotPirate who have been involved in both cases for comment, but my instinct is to merge these cases. GirthSummit (blether) 09:54, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, they seem like socks of Kung Hibbe. Merging sounds fine. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 10:49, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Merged and tagged (went with proven per the above conversation, I hope that's appropriate). Closing. --Blablubbs (talk) 11:08, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same fascination with breaking WP:NOTBROKEN, compare confirmed sock Guntheriana with Microphylla and Coloradensis. Focus on sports with the odd foray into philosophy'ish topics – eerily reminiscent of another blocked-yet-keeps-returning user from the same habitat, but that's for another day. There has also been tons of IP block evasion, but CUs don't want to hear, let alone speak, of those. CU requested primarily to get a non-stale handle for (near) future cases, but also sleepers or socks that have avoided my trawl. Favonian (talk) 15:35, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Microphylla and Coloradensis Confirmed. Unfortunately, the nature of this case doesn't make sleeper checks easy, so I skipped that part. -- RoySmith(talk) 23:09, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Showed up making the same WP:NOTBROKEN type edit on World War II as recently blocked sock Choirorhynchos (talk·contribs) had recently done on the article seen here and here, based on editing interests seems to be Swedish like the sockmaster as well. This is a new account but I've got a strong feeling this is the same person, and checkuser can help confirm and see if there are other accounts. TylerBurden (talk) 09:51, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed to Udomritthiruji, and technically very likely to Coloradensis - blocking, and taking behaviour into account as well I'm tagging as confirmed. I don't see any other accounts, but they jump around a number of different ranges and use fairly generic UAs, so come back if any other accounts start behaving similarly. GirthSummit (blether) 14:43, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The bulk of edits display the same obsession with needless WP:NOTBROKEN or WP:NOPIPE tinkering, some with resultant actively detrimental alterations to phrasing. Often evasive or misleading edit summaries. Impervious to requests to desist. Mutt Lunker (talk) 17:34, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This by User:wbm1058 so soon after, also at Scotland, looks more than a coincidence. They have comments re WP:NOTBROKEN on their talk page. 03:10, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wbm1058 has been an administrator for seven years. It is exceedingly unlikely that they have anything to do with this. I haven't looked into the other account. Spicy (talk) 04:35, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, fair enough, missed that (middle of the night and all that)! Coincidence after all. I did think it was the slickest sleeper imaginable, to the sock's often dumb act. Mutt Lunker (talk) 09:10, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nordic Countries was on this list. If you don't think that's broken (i.e. a miscapitalization) then you should revert this edit. I have no strong opinion on whether Scotland is or should be considered as a "Nordic country". – wbm1058 (talk) 11:47, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, no contention; am happy that it is a miscapitalisation. Was thrown by there being the odd neutral and very occasional positive edit among our subject editor's fixing obsession. Two alterations to redirects at the same article within a few hours sounded an alarm. Likewise, no consideration given to Scotland being Nordic or otherwise. Mutt Lunker (talk) 16:58, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Александр Шёстрём blocked and tagged. Insufficient evidence regarding wbm1058, but monitors activated. ;) The Vikings plundered Scotland, so it may be granted honorary Nordic status. We still mull the possibility of reclaiming Orkney and Shetland. On that happy note: Merry Christmas! Favonian (talk) 12:06, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same campaigning in opposition to WP:NOTBROKEN, resumption of activities soon after ban of User:Александр Шёстрём incarnation. Interest in similar articles. Identical edits at MOS:BLANKALT: [16], [17]Mutt Lunker (talk) 00:42, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Largely for the record, as the sock is already blocked, though this individual has a history of creating multiple new puppets/sleepers, so a sweep may be worthwhile.
Same campaigning in opposition to WP:NOTBROKEN. Resumption of activities immediately after ban of User:Typicum incarnation. Interest in similar articles. Identical elements to edit at Scotland: [18] v. [19], [20] etc. Mutt Lunker (talk) 12:18, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Same campaigning in opposition to WP:NOTBROKEN. Resumption of activities immediately after ban of previous sock incarnation. Interest in similar articles. Identical elements to edit at Scotland. Mutt Lunker (talk) 21:59, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I mentioned the edit at Scotland but evidently forgot to add the diffs for this and the predecessor socks' edits this time: [21] & [22] v. [23], [24], [25]
Additional information needed. In order to facilitate and expedite your request, please provide diffs to support your case. Please give two or more diffs meeting the following format:
At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this.
I'm not seeing a clear connection between this account without needing to drill down into details of edits, although I could be missing something. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 10:19, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Tagged, closing. Thanks, Spicy (talk) 19:43, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed to numerous blocked socks, including Александр Шёстрём who is themselves tagged as confirmed. Also the entertainingly named account NOTBROKEN. Blocking, tagging, closing. GirthSummit (blether) 11:16, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This edit is classic Kung Hibbe: they understand the arcane intricacies of WP:INTDAB but dissent from it. Certes (talk) 10:45, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Usual opposition to WP:NOTBROKEN and other edits contrary to policy re links, inc. return to targetting of France. Sock name a tribute transliteration to nemesis @Favonian:. Mutt Lunker (talk) 12:44, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed to Φανοηιαη above, and to a whole bunch of older socks including some confirmed ones. Also Olof Lagersten. Blocking both, tagging, closing. GirthSummit (blether) 12:53, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Usual opposition to WP:NOTBROKEN and other edits contrary to policy re links, inc. return to targetting of Canada: cf. [50] with [51] Advise sweep for sleepers. Mutt Lunker (talk) 21:21, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Similar behaviour "fixing" redirects which are NOTBROKEN (example), with particular emphasis on "Term (disambiguation)" hatnotes (example). Interaction is fairly strong considering the new account's low edit count. Both accounts' home wiki is Swedish WP. Created ten days after previous sock Scutata was blocked. Certes (talk) 21:10, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. With the sock in the previous investigation, may indicate a new pattern of slower, more patient semi-sleeper socks. Worth a sweep? Mutt Lunker (talk) 11:50, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also notice a single but distinctive IP edit two months ago; not sure whether to post details here. The IP has made no other edits. Certes (talk) 12:47, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - Compare this one to the previous sock (Bellula). For more evidence, see [58] vs [59]. Vanjagenije(talk) 01:00, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree per WP:QUACK. At least one article has been targetted by an earlier sock and others are in their usual subject range. Mutt Lunker (talk) 01:20, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk - Please, compare to previous socks and check for possible sleepers (see [60][61][62] for evidence). Vanjagenije(talk) 16:03, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"Fixing" links that are WP:NOTBROKEN including the customary edit to France in contravention of WP:INTDAB. Sleepers seem likely based on past experience. Certes (talk) 23:06, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree the edits and topics are typical, including this signature edit to a "Buenos Aires, Argentina" link. Mutt Lunker (talk) 00:20, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not overly familiar with this sock-master, but they seem to be exhibiting the same "fixing" of WP:NOTBROKEN links detailed at previous cases, in particular at Fall of communism in Poland there is this change which is the same as previous socks Александр Шёстрём and Bellula. The account being created a few days after the blocking of the last sock is suspicious timing also. Kathleen's bike (talk) 00:22, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, per WP:DUCK. Articles in same sphere of interest, NOTBROKEN obsession. Mutt Lunker (talk) 09:03, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Active acknowledgement of their block evasion here. Mutt Lunker (talk) 16:30, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at Special:Contributions/2A00:801:709:D377:6CA0:70B0:DD75:349, you find the IP edited a bit after Burmanica making the exact same kind of edit, so could be the same person, and the geolocation matches previous socks. That is duckish enough by itself, to be honest, but a CU to check for sleepers is a good idea as they are persistent. Dennis Brown - 2¢ 11:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Burmainca is Confirmed to Kung Hibbe socks Apicinebula and Qitzikwaka. Blocked and tagged. The ranges are busy, and I'm not familiar with the master, so I need some time to run a check for sleepers.-- Ponyobons mots 22:11, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
