Suspected sockpuppets

Concerted effort consisting of POV pushing in: Sultan-ul-Arifeen, Makhdoom, Hari Parbat and (deleted and recreated, so full history available only to admins) Hamza Makhdoom. The three: Ayesha_Nb, Nainntara and Punjabsind82 have been created to "defend" WP:Articles for deletion/Mujtaba Akhir Zamani, WP:Articles for deletion/Sultan Bahoo: The Life and Teachings, WP:Articles for deletion/Shams-ul-Fuqara and WP:Articles for deletion/Risala Roohi Shareef, their distinct style (capitalisation, headings, and personal attacks [1] [2] and so on) suggest indeffing per duck. The newest Dannywiki1 is near certain sock of Neyn and "defends" Sultan-ul-Arifeen, Neyn's "baby", by speedy tagging all articles with undesired information - for explanation, see here: [3]. I apologise that I have no time or energy to sift through all their edits and offer diffs - however, edit history of all the suspected socks except Neyn would be the best lecture. BTW, personally I sense two (or three?) distinct editors behind this sock farm, but that's only a gut feeling and I am not in a position to precisely ascribe individual socks to real-life editors. I understand that IP addresses won't be commented upon but their activity consisted primarily of working jointly with the socks, so might be interesting to check. Also, see a discussion on the matter on my Talk page: [4]. Regards, kashmiri TALK 21:41, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was not originally involved, but I noticed what seems to be clear-as-day sockpuppeting behavior during my normal AfD rounds and felt the need to assist. I will try to keep it brief.

The Ayesha Nb and Nainntara accounts were created within two days of each other; Punjabsind82 came less than two weeks later. All three accounts focus solely on the articles created by the group (Risala Roohi Shareef, Mujtaba Akhir Zamani and Shams-ul-Fuqara) as well as attacking anyone who questions the notability of those articles.
Personal attack by Nainntara at 12:58, 1 January 2015
Punjabsind82 has launched almost nothing but personal attacks as can be seen on his/her contribs, though the choiciest is the accusation that Kashmiri has: "entered a war against the holy saint sultan bahoo, the readers of sultan bahoo, teachings of sultan bahoo, sultan bahoo school of thought, followers and lovers of sultan bahoo and sarwar qadri order due to his personal issues with this school of thought and personality of sultan bahoo"
Personal attack by Ayesha Nb at 12:22, 1 January 2015
There are personal attacks by some of the other accounts as well, virtually all directed at Kashmiri and his (falsely) perceived personal bias:
Personal attack by Dannywiki1 at 17:24, 5 January 2015
Personal attack by JugniSQ at 04:08, 2 January 2015
The various IP addresses display the same pattern of attack as well:
IP 202.166.163.146 suggesting Kashmiri and I are the same person at 04:46, 5 January 2015
Personal attack by 182.178.180.31 at 10:50, 2 January 2015
Personal attack by 182.178.143.229 at 20:43, 3 January 2015
Neyn, who appears to be either the puppetmaster or some other kind of ringleader, launched a longer attack repeating much of the same as above here.

So, what am I trying to say? Because these accounts all attack the same guy, they must be socks? No, it is theoretically possible that they all are different people who really dislike Kashmiri. That isn't my argument. Rather, my argument is that:

There is more evidence based on the habits of writing and the wording used, but this comment is long enough. I'll leave this one specifically for the similarities in personal attacks and will address the other similarities at a later time. MezzoMezzo (talk) 03:56, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We've got another sockpuppet: Lockmaster1 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). He has filed a bogus report on ANI and AN. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 14:12, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks. I'm now keeping a fairly sharp eye out for the next sock (as I presume you are as well). Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 16:26, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another suspected sock created yesterday to contest of two AfD: [5], [6]. Writing style similar to others, but username reminds of User:JugniSQ above which both comment on the same AfD. kashmiri TALK 09:47, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Only contributed on Sultan Bahu and the AFD. Same writing pattern[8]-[9], throwing website links.[10] He wrote User:kashmiri,(k should be capitalized)[11] also did when he had made an unblock request on Neyn.[12] Bladesmulti (talk) 16:47, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Badly fails duck test. Markangle11 resumed efforts of the former Mrashid346 stable (which was huge indeed) on Sultan Bahoo, inserting links to own websites (www.sultan-ul-faqr.com and www.sultan-bahoo.com) and references to non-RS publications by some Sultan ul Faqr Publishing House of Lahore; also, and similarly prominently describing one of the nickames supposedly held by the article subject ("Sultan-ul-Arifeen) which is claimed by the Lahore sect as own.[16] kashmiri TALK 11:06, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Remi143 - another recently registered sock, editing the same articles and inserting the same promotional references to publications by Sultan ul Faqr.

Adding samm.jutt - less certain, but also very recently registered and editing much of the same articles.

  1. At least one diff is from the sockmaster (or an account already blocked as a confirmed sockpuppet of the sockmaster), showing the behaviour characteristic of the sockmaster.
  2. At least one diff per suspected sockpuppet, showing the suspected sockpuppet emulating the behaviour of the sockmaster given in the first diff.
  3. In situations where it is not immediately obvious from the diffs what the characteristic behaviour is, a short explanation must be provided. Around one sentence is enough for this. Vanjagenije (talk) 19:58, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Will do this shortly, would you keep on hold till then please? I see this will require going through contributions of the confirmed socks as well. Regards, kashmiri TALK 21:20, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another attempt at adding promotional content from sultan-bahoo.net, a website managed by a Muslim sect based in Lahore. Just as it was the case with the sockmaster and its many socks, the IP resolves to Lahore. Its editing history gives little doubt that it is the same as Abu Murtaza [17]. — kashmīrī TALK 22:30, 27 September 2018 (UTC) — kashmīrī TALK 22:30, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can't instantly – it has been over 3 years since the Lahore sock farm attacked Sultan Bahu and related articles - if I remember correctly, most links were added to now-deleted articles created by the same sock farm (Faqr-e-Iqbal, Sultan Mohammad Najib Ur Rehman, Sultan-ul-Faqr Monthly Magazine, Mujtaba Akhir Zamani, Risala Roohi Shareef, Shams-ul-Fuqara, Sultan-ul-Faqr Publications Regd., Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr, Sultan Bahoo: The Life and Teachings, Sultan ul arifeen, and many others). See my comment on the editing pattern of other socks at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Mrashid364/Archive#28_October_2015 (here, I had no time to respond to the case then and the socks are now stale). — kashmīrī TALK 09:42, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here are a few diffs: [18], [19], [20].
Note that the recently regstered www.sultan-bahoo.net is a newer copy of the older www.sultan-bahoo.com – both websites contain almost the same content and both are run by the same organisation Tehreek-Dawat-e-Faqr from Lahore [21] [22]. — kashmīrī TALK 09:42, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
