Evidence

There are various lines of evidence for sockpuppetry; one of the most damning is that this same user has created the same sockpuppet in both the English and French Wikipedia. On the French WP, this user has been blocked [1], and used the "Pandur" sockpuppet there [2] to circumvent the block on the primary account, though it was also blocked recently. He makes no attempt to conceal his identity on the main account, and the "Pandur" (and "Condor") sockpuppets are portrayed as a "third party" that supports and parrots the main account's views ("P.S. Je vous prie de ne me confondre avec Prof. Dr. Lehrer."). The editor works in Tel Aviv, and all of the IP sockpuppets, many of which use the name "Pandur" as a signature (other names such as "Condor" are common - even "Pandur & Condor"[3]) are from dial-up connections in Tel Aviv. In the English WP, this editor and all of his sockpuppets edit only three pages, all of the edits being similar in tone and content, whether they are in French or English; the three pages are Bengalia, Cluster fly, and Blow-fly, with special emphasis on the associated talk pages. On Talk:Bengalia, for example, he has edited from the main account, the Pandur account, plus the IP sockpuppets 89.1.189.40, 82.166.233.100, 89.1.254.20, 82.166.237.200, 89.1.181.24, 82.166.236.207, 89.1.197.81, 89.1.183.123, 89.1.197.37, 82.166.153.202, 82.166.221.72, 89.1.210.214, and 82.166.171.130.

Comments

This editor, identified as [redacted] by his own admission, is engaged in systematic personal attacks on other scientists who have published criticisms and refutations of his research; in essence, he is taking an academic dispute to WP, where his critics are not present, and he can call them "idiots"[4] and "racists"[5] without fear of their responding. Regardless of the merits or lack thereof of this editor's published works (all his proposed classifications have been explicitly rejected by the scientific community thus far, and clearly this is what is prompting his disruptive behavior here, since WP policy dictates following the mainstream, not the fringe - and a taxobox can only use one classification) he refuses to abide by WP:NPOV. Most notably, this editor has placed MASSIVE diatribes personally denouncing his critics on the talk pages of all three of the articles listed above, in blatant violation of WP:CIVIL and other guidelines, in addition to constant deletion of external links and references to other scientists' works (numerous WP:3RR violations), and inclusion of numerous citations and links to several self-published and non-peer-reviewed sources for his own work (WP:SPS and WP:RS and WP:OWN issues). That these edits are originating primarily from dial-up IPs, linked by their common origins and common signatures, compounds the offenses committed. Every attempt to explain WP policy to this editor has been rebuffed or ignored, generally with claims that I or the other editors chastising him must be pawns or sockpuppets of his academic nemesis.

We have here a very disruptive editor using IP sockpuppets, and I see little alternative than to follow the French WP folks and block or ban this user, remove the inflammatory personal attacks, and see whether the IP sockpuppets can possibly be blocked. Temporary semi-protection for these three pages is only of very limited help, since most of the abuse takes place on the talk pages. Help and suggestions are welcome, since the editor is utterly recalcitrant and unapologetic.

Two same names and editing same topics on two different language wikis is way beyond chance level. They were blocked in the French wiki too. I've blocked and tagged the named accounts.RlevseTalk 23:30, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
