- please register for this event with your account
- (optional) no prior training is required, but an online Wikipedia tutorial is available

- 0:00-0:05 - Welcome
- 0:05-0:10 - Orientation and tutorial for Wikipedia
- 0:10-1:20 - Wiki editing!
- 1:20-1:40 - show and tell by participants
- 1:40-2:00 - wrap up
- 2:00-2:30 - long goodbye and socialize
Goal
The minimum target goal for participants in the editing workshop is the following:
- Have fun socializing and discussing women in science
- Register a Wikimedia account
- Add 1 sentence and 1 citation to any Wikipedia article
- understand basics of Wikipedia
- understand the challenge of addressing information bias for gender and in general
Steps
For Wikipedia
- off Wikipedia and in library resources, find a publication with interesting facts
- identify a fact
- now browse Wikipedia for an article covering the topic of the fact
- click edit at Wikipedia article
- type your fact into the Wikipedia edit box
- click "cite" at top, and enter your citation
- click save
