I'd like to point out that in Image:Latvia districts blank.png and maps based on it lake of Liepāja marked so that it looks like a part of the Sea (I guess it's because of the strange way CIA World Factbook map marks this lake) ~~Xil...sist! 08:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
== Taip arba Ne ==
Can you have a look at Taip arba Ne please and see if it is notable enough for Wikipedia. There are loads of hits for this on Google, but not so much in English. --Montchav (talk) 21:24, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Oops, wrong baltic state, --Montchav (talk) 21:26, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
An IP keeps changing content of List of Presidents of Latvia to what could be called list of heads of Latvia. Due to this discussion and the fact that it is not (in my opinion) in the article's scope, I keep reverting his edits. Now he suggested to rename the list Heads of Latvia, I suggested him that if he wants such list he should get seperate article created, but he added his list again. I am not sure if such list would be good idea nor if he would stop if someone else would create it. Anyway I would like a second opinion - I can't keep endlesly reverting him only because I don't agree with him and he seems to be ignoring discussion ~~Xil...sist! 22:22, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

It's time to celebrate our 1000th article and to drink a bottle of beer ;). And by the way, we don't have any good articles, I think it's time to finish and nominate some of our best articles. Denis Tarasov (talk) 16:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I think it doesn’t matter, although you can move it, if you think it will get better. I also think it's better to leave the phrase about CIS summit in the article... it intentionally was held in the same day as the NATO summit. Denis Tarasov (talk) 12:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Mind that Riga summit has been put on hold, reviewer says that article should be better referenced and that there could be more images, if we won't do something about it it will be failed after 7 days ~~Xil * 16:13, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Does Andrejs Zavadskis merit an article? (Has he had any solo exhibitions, or has he had any books published?) I note that there's no link to an article on him in Latvian-language Wikipedia. The article on him here talks of winning some contests, but I don't know how notable they are. There's something obscure about a "gallery" (an exhibition?). The article ends on a most humdrum note -- but then, he's remarkably young. (Perhaps he'll deserve an article ten or twenty years from now.) Am I missing something? (Unfortunately I can't read Latvian.) -- Hoary (talk) 07:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
User:213.180.97.70 has been making various edits which, personally, strike me as disruptive. These (somewhat bizarrely) often involve replacing references to Lithuanian with ones to Latvian, as well as trying to make far-right Latvian movements be presented as simply "nationalists". I assume this guy is a member or hang-around of "Visu Latvijai!". Keep an eye out for his "contributions". —Zalktis (talk) 15:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Hello. There are 77 officialy designated cities in Latvia but it seems there is no linguistic distinction between city and town in Latvian, this causes problems with nomenclature, here on WP. Would renaming Cat:Cities in Latvia to Cat:Cities and towns in Latvia be reasonable? Thanks. - Darwinek (talk) 13:41, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
What do you think? - Darwinek (talk) 13:49, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Within WikiProject Companies I am trying to establish guidelines for all Lists of companies by country, the implementation of which would hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard and level of consistency across all of these related but currently disparate articles. The ultimate goal is the improvement of these articles to Featured List status. As a WikiProject that currently has one of these lists within your scope, I would really appreciate your feedback! You can find the draft guidelines here. Thanks for your help as we look to build consensus and improve Wikipedia! - Richc80 (talk) 04:50, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Oliver Kahn is of partial Latvian descent: his grandmother was Latvian, his grandfather Baltic German, and his father was born in Liepāja. His Latvian background caused media speculation as to whether this would affect his perfromance in the Germany–Latvia game during the UEFA Euro 2004 championships. Should this famous German goalkeeper be included in WikiProject Latvia? —Zalktis (talk) 06:40, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I've been unable to find information pertaining to the Latvian music industry, so I was hoping someone here could help me. Is there a Latvian equivalent to the Recording Industry Association of America or British Phonographic Industry? I ask because I'm working on a global music-market type article (List of music recording sales certifications) and I've been unable to find much info pertaining to the Latvian music industry. Any help anyone could give would very much appreciated. Drewcifer (talk) 02:41, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.
Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.
Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! Lately, I have gone through most of the articles related to the WikiProject Latvia. Many articles have comments on how names and words are called in other languages than English, mostly German and Russian, and I think the practice of mentioning all these relatively irrelevant names and words has gone too far. Perhaps we could agree on a policy or something similar, so we can remove most of these irrelevant names and words and let readers use the interwiki links instead in case they absolutely must know how a name or word is spelled in another language. Interesting AfD discussion Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 22:29, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Interesting AfD discussion. This time with consequenses for notability on Latvian biographical articles. The deletion of the given name articles implies that articles with biographies on people having that particular given name are all not notable to be included to Wikipedia. Currently, 1266 articles are assigned to this project, of which 310, or 24.5%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 14 July 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. More than 150 projects and work groups have already subscribed, and adding a subscription for yours is easy - just place a template on your project page.
If you want to respond to this canned message, please do so at my user talk page; I'm not watching this page. --B. Wolterding (talk) 17:10, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Just thought that the community would like to know that WikiProject Films has a established a Soviet and post-Soviet cinema task force. Interested editors are encouraged to join onboard! Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 21:46, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Editors interested in a suggested Baltic cinema task force can sign up here. General comments are also requested. Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 02:20, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.
We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.
A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.
We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:16, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Could anyone in your project who can read Latvian or has access to Latvian press articles give us some input at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Armands Strazds (2nd nomination). Many thanks, Voceditenore (talk) 12:58, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Our agreement is that Holocaust scholars are speaking about "only" 6 Holocaust Extermination camps (stupid definition but ....). Our disagreement is about creation of sub section other extermination camps. With knowledge that there has been many others extermination camps and sites (I know 7 of them) question is: Will we create subsection in The Holocaust template for this camps ? Can you please hear your comments about this question in section Non involved users because maybe even Latvia will have place in rewriten template (events in 1941)?--Rjecina (talk) 15:32, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
