Suspected sockpuppets

Dio98 edits in exactly the same fields of interest as Sonny1998: political parties around the world (mainly editing the ideology labels in the infobox, rarely the article's body and never citing sources (one of the reasons why Sonny1998 was blocked - Dio: [1] [2] [3] [4]; Sonny: [5] [6] [7] [8]), Italian politics and politicians (again, mainly editing the infoboxes only; Dio: [9] [10] [11]; Sonny: [12] [13] [14]), and articles related to organised crime, especially Italian mafia (Dio: [15] [16]; Sonny: [17] [18] [19]). Dio98, like Sonny1998, seems to be fond of "-isms": Sonny1998 created an article on Craxism (hist) which was lately edited by Dio98, Dio98 created one about Berlusconism ([20]). Both users make quite a lot of linguistic mistakes when writing continuous text, their English is quite obviously influenced by their Italian mother tongue (Dio: "politician and intrapeneur Silvio Berlusconi", "in the giornalistico-politico language context.", "pro-Israele"; Sonny: [21].

The use of the sockpuppet is abusive because Sonny1998 evades his indefinite block and continues with unfounded edits, not supported by sources, never explains edits in edit summaries, never seeks consensus with other users through discussion. RJFF (talk) 17:57, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edits in exactly the same fields as Sonny1998 (resp. the first "re-incarnation" Dio98) did: Italian mafia, Italian politicians and political parties, in some cases even the same articles, e.g. Rizzuto crime family (Chucky60, Dio98, Sonny1998), New Centre-right (Chucky60, Dio98), Christian Democracy (Italy) (Chucky60, Dio, Sonny), Forza Italia (2013) (Chucky, Dio, Sonny). Like earlier "incarnations" Sonny and Dio, Chucky shows special interest in editing or adding infoboxes and bulleted lists rather than producing actual text (Chucky added infoboxes/timelines to Commisso 'ndrina, Cataldo 'ndrina, Bellocco 'ndrina just like Dio did to Randolfo Pacciardi and Rizzuto crime family and Sonny did to Cotroni crime family and Philadelphia crime family.) Like Sonny1998 and Dio98, Chucky60 nearly never provides sources for their edits, never explains edits with a summary and never engages in talk page discussions.

The use of the sockpuppet is abusive, because it evades Sonny1998's indefinite block and continues with adding unverifiable content and non-cooperative editing behaviour. RJFF (talk) 19:43, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have the strong impression that Mafia1960 is the same person as blocked user Chucky60 a sockpuppet of Sonny1998, who has been caught operating under various other names as well. Same pattern of editing on same articles (see for instance Rizzuto crime family, Buffalo crime family and Bontade Mafia clan; same interests (for instance adding info boxes); and the same style of editing in Italian English. Like Sonny1998 and Chucky60 he inserts unfounded edits, not supported by sources, never explains edits in edit summaries, never seeks consensus with other users through discussion. - DonCalo (talk) 15:57, 5 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

More examples: editing on Greco Mafia clan, Chucky60 and Mafia1960, with an intermediate edit by IP 87.17.246.107, which is probably a dynamic IP address for both. Adding section Historical leadership, Chucky60 and Mafia1960. Continuous editing on Barbaro 'ndrina. - DonCalo (talk) 16:50, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Additional evidence: Mafia1960 added infoboxes to Siderno Group, just like Chucky60 to Commisso 'ndrina, Cataldo 'ndrina, Bellocco 'ndrina and his other sockpuppets Dio98 did to Rizzuto crime family and Sonny1998 did to Cotroni crime family. Obvious case of WP:DUCK? - DonCalo (talk) 09:12, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DonCalo, just an FYI for you, you don't need to repeat the old sockpuppets in a new report, each new report you add for this username (Sonny1998) is automatically linked to the old reports via the archives, so any administrators, clerks, and checkusers will be aware of the other sockpuppets. Feel free to mention them if you're referencing them in evidence but you don't need to add them to the suspected list of sockpuppets above if they've already been identified as sockpuppets previously.
I'm going to mark this for closure with the block of this latest sock. -- Atama 22:14, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So I saw User:Mafia1960 got blocked as a sock of this guy. Then today I noticed an IP was trying to screw with the positions of mafiosis [22] [23] just like Mafia1960 was. Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 15:15, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I fully agree with Lenin and McCarthy. The same pattern of editing on the same issues, for example the "historical leadership" sections in Bonanno crime family and Gambino crime family. Doesn't really surprise me. I am afraid this person is unstoppable if drastic measures are not taken. - DonCalo (talk) 18:05, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Similarities in editing infoboxes by 87.11.245.250 and by 79.47.240.180 just as the sockpuppet Chucky60 in the same article and adding historical leadership sections by 87.20.216.54, by 87.11.245.250 and by 86.176.85.14. Other examples: editing infoboxes by Mafia1960 (another sockpuppet) and by 86.176.85.14 in the same article. Similar editing (redirecting and infoboxes) on Cotroni crime family by 87.7.243.70, by 79.26.244.142 and Sonny1998 and editing pattern of Mafia1960 on related page. As already noticed before in previous cases this person seems to be persistent in continuing disruptive editing, in particular on Mafia related articles, despite blocks. - DonCalo (talk) 07:28, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Other example: reverting edits by 86.177.9.179 originally inserted by 86.176.85.14. - DonCalo (talk) 15:25, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Today What When appeared editing Rizzuto crime family and Cotroni crime family with the same pattern of editing as the various sockpuppets. For example redirecting Cotroni to Rizzuto just as 87.7.243.70 and 79.26.244.142. That article has also been edited by Sonny1998. Another example is inserting incorrect information to Rizzuto crime family just as Sonny1998 (adding historical leadership section just as Dio98) and editing by Mafia1960. - DonCalo (talk) 19:46, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously a new reincarnation of multiply banned User:Sonny1998 (archive of earlier SPIs): edits in the same fields as all earlier incarnations: mainly political parties around the world as well as Italian politics and politicians (sometimes even the same articles, e.g. New Centre-Right Absolute98, that has already been edited by Chucky60, Dio98; Italian Socialist Party Absolute98, Sonny1998, Dio98), and a side field of interest in Italian mafia groups (e.g. here), "obsessed" with infoboxes, rarely ever edits the actual article text, never cites sources, never gives explanations for their edits (even for drastic changes like this [24] or this), never engages in talk page discussions, never replies to messages on user talk page, uses the "trademark" number 98 (like the earlier incarnations Sunny1998, Dio98). RJFF (talk) 12:39, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The use of the new account is abusive because it evades the indefinite ban, the user adds unverifiable information in a massive number of articles, despite being asked to provide references ([25]), fails to communicate or cooperate with any other user in any way, is totally unresponsive to messages, repeatedly performed copy & paste moves (here, here) despite messages that asked him not to do so and explained him how to properly move pages ([26])--RJFF (talk) 12:51, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: Indeffed and tagged based on duck. I would have liked to have technical evidence to back this up, but everything is stale. There is a lot of evidence of similarities. However, I had some reservations based on Absolute98's penchant for creating templates involving colors. I didn't find any other account in the archive that did that. Also, some of the other accounts created brand new pages, and the broken English was obvious, whereas I couldn't make any stylistic determinations based on Absolute98's edits. Still, I am comfortable with the block; not everything is "perfect". @RJFF: I can delete any pages created by the puppet per WP:CSD#G5. However, I would only do so if you think the pages are not constructive. Let me know if any administrative action is needed in that area. Thanks. Closing.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:45, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23: Thanks for the decision. No, I don't think the color templates created by Absolute98 are harmful. --RJFF (talk) 12:39, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Favour1600 has continued the intense and undiscussed edits of the colors in assorted political party templates previously contributed by the recent sock Absolute98 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). It's a complete duck, so I have already blocked it and will close this case immediately, but the record should stay for reference. This was reported on Favonian's Talk page by Sundostund. I agreed that the behavioral similarities were obvious and indeffed and tagged the account.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:03, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
