Abatar (Persian: اباتر)[a] is a village in, and the capital of, Abatar Rural District of Taher Gurab District, Sowme'eh Sara County, Gilan province, Iran.[4]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 1,822 in 528 households, when it was in Taher Gurab Rural District of the Central District.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 1,775 people in 592 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,538 people in 552 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
After the census, the rural district was separated from the district in the formation of Taher Gurab District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Abatar Rural District.[4]
