Bagtash (Persian: بگتاش)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, Baktash District of Miandoab County, West Azerbaijan province, Iran.[4] It was formerly the capital of Zarrineh Rud Rural District[5] before the capital as transferred to the village of Satelmish-e Mohammadlu.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 3,198 in 756 households, when it was a village in Zarrineh Rud Rural District of the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 3,525 people in 984 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,523 people in 1,065 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
In May 2020, the rural district was separated from the district in the establishment of Baktash District, which was divided into two rural districts.[4] In February 2021, the village of Bagtash was elevated to the status of a city.
