Band-e Zarak (Persian: بندزرك; also known as Bandark-e Kohneh, Banz̄ark, Banz̄ark-e Kohneh, Banz̄ark Kohneh, and Banz̄ark Now)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Band-e Zarak District of Minab County, Hormozgan province, Iran, serving as the administrative center for Band-e Zarak Rural District.[4]
At the 2006 census, its population was 4,386 in 776 households, when it was a village in Band-e Zarak Rural District of the Central District.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 4,683 people in 1,026 households,[6] by which time the rural district had been separated from the district in the establishment of Band-e Zarak District.[7] The most recent census, in 2016, showed a population of 4,796 people in 1,279 households, and that it was the largest village in its rural district.[2]
In 2019, the village of Band-e Zarak was elevated to the status of a city.[8][9]
