Christian Mangaron Rontini[1] (born 20 July 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder for Liga 1 club Persita Tangerang. Born in Italy, he represents the Philippines national team.
Rontini decided to embrace Islam on 5 September 2023 at the Al-Azhom Mosque, Tangerang. After embracing Islam, he changed his name to Yasir Ali. Previously, he was a Christian. Strong support for him embracing Islam came from Javlon Guseynov, a player from Uzbekistan when both of them played in Persita Tangerang.[2][3]
On 28 October 2023, Rontini married his girlfriend, Amanda Gonzales who is the daughter of former Indonesia national team player Cristian Gonzáles. He officially married Amanda in a wedding ceremony held at the Royal Ambarrukmo pavilion, Yogyakarta.[4]
Rontini is a former youth player of Floria 2000.
In 2018, Rontini joined Serie D/E club Sangiovannese on a one-year deal.[5]
After an impressive season, Rontini renewed his contract with Sangiovannese that kept him with the club until June 2020.[6]
As of October 2021, Rontini was signed with the Azkals Development Team (ADT) of the Philippines Football League (PFL).[7]
Rontini was born in Italy to an Italian father and a Filipina mother, which made him eligible to represent either Italy or the Philippines at international level.
Rontini was part of the Philippines U-22 squad that competed at the 2019 SEA Games on home soil.[8]
He was included in the 20-man squad for the 2021 SEA Games held in Vietnam.[9] He scored his first goal for the Philippines in a 4–0 win against Timor Leste.[10][11]
In 2019, it was reported that Rontini received an invitation to train with the Philippines national team.[12][13]
He received his first call-up for the Philippines in a friendly match against China PR.[14][15][16] He replaced Curt Dizon in the 86th minute of the match where the team lost 2–0.[17][18]
