Lars Merseburg is a German former swimmer and the co-founder of Imagine Swimming, Inc , New York City's largest learn-to-swim program.[1]

Swimming Career

Merseburg was a member of the German National Swim Team for eight years and on the first unified German national team, following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990[1]. A University of California at Berkeley graduate, he was an NCAA Champion and Academic All-American, and Captain of the Cal Swimming and Diving team.[2]

Merseburg and business partner Casey Barrett founded Imagine Swimming, Inc. in New York City in 2002.[3] The school teaches thousands of students each week, between the ages of 6 months and 12 years, at pools across Manhattan and Brooklyn, with a flagship location in TriBeCa.[4] Imagine Swimming also oversees the Manhattan Makos swim team[5] and the synchronized swimming team, Imagine Synchro.[6]
