University at Albany Student Association article flagged for “Lead too long”[edit]

Happy New Year! I was notified earlier that the article has a lead section that is too long, and as I read the template and guidelines for that type of warning, I noticed that the general rule of thumb is four paragraphs, and the lead section of the article consists of three and I'm not sure how to cut it down more, but I need your assistance with it please. Calebsappy (talk) 23:12, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey @Calebsappy. Lead length is pretty subjective, I would personally say the lead length is fine on the article. If you wanted to cut it down, I'd recommend moving the "The UAlbany Student Association comprises four branches..." paragraph to under the Operations section, as it probably fits better there anyway. Hope that helps. Qcne (talk) 08:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hey. I shortened the lead. Do I just wait for an additional review or the disclaimer will go away on its own? Thanks. Calebsappy (talk) 02:58, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Calebsappy If you feel it's no longer relevant, you can remove the maintenance tag yourself. Qcne (talk) 08:00, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"Mark Prihodko" draft review[edit]

Hello. This Draft:Mark Prihodko was declined on 13 December by you and noted: «We need in-line citations for every statement». I accidentally came along and decided to fix things. While not every statement is backed up yet, I'd like you to review the updated version before upcoming publish attempt. Thanks. Tacit Murky (talk) 01:00, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Tacit Murky, that's certainly better. A few more things:
- we need an inline citation for his date of birth.
- you can re-use ref #3 for "He made his debut at the age of 9 at the Musica Mundi festival in Belgium and Chat el Ro concert series in France" in the lead paragraph.
- education is still fully unsourced.
- I would remove the word "renowned" as it breaks WP:NPOV. Qcne (talk) 09:01, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Fixed everything. Please review. Tacit Murky (talk) 06:19, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re Draft:Eleonora Svanberg[edit]

Hi, I'm a bit confused by what I would need to add to show notability for the person in question. Could you please guide me?

Many thanks

CygnusB (talk) 15:05, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @CygnusB.
Topics on Wikipedia must pass our notability criteria.
The easiest way to fix your draft is to find reliable, independent, secondary sources that cover Eleonora in detail, and then summarise them in your own words. That should make up the content of your article draft. Note that the sources must be:
- Reliable: Your article should rely on strong, reliable sources that are published by reputable institutions. Primary sources can be used for basic facts (such as a date of birth), but they should be supplemented with strong secondary sources that offer analysis or interpretation.
- Independent: Your sources should be independent of the subject, for example not self-published or from the subject's own website.
- Show significant coverage: Your subject should be discussed in detail in the sources you find. The sources should provide in-depth information or analysis about the subject, going beyond basic facts or promotional material.
- From multiple places: You should find at least three separate reliable, independent, secondary sources that discuss your subject.
- Not original research: Wikipedia articles should summarise existing knowledge about a subject, not present new research. This means you should avoid drawing your own conclusions or analyses from the sources. Stick to summarising what the sources say in a neutral tone.
Remember that your article should be written from a Wikipedia:Neutral point of view.
If you cannot find multiple, reliable, and independent sources then I am afraid that she would not meet the notability threshold at this time and therefore cannot have a Wikipedia article. Remember that Wikipedia is not a place for any type of self-promotion or advertisement. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia: not an advertising platform, directory, or a way to promote a subject.
Finally, please note that if you are connected in any way to Eleonora then you must declare your Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Qcne (talk) 16:07, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
(talk page watcher) @CygnusB: In addition to what Qcne said, do note that each language Wiki has its own set of rules and policies. Just because another language wiki has an article on a subject doesn't mean that the subject merits an article on the English language wiki. Also, it appears you are the subject. There is a strong discouragement to writing about yourself. I have added info on your talk page regarding this. - UtherSRG (talk) 17:11, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please convert your external links into proper in-line citations by following the tutorial at WP:INTREFVE. It'll then automatically generate a list of references. Qcne (talk) 18:54, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sure. Will. Thanks once again. Basuproma (talk) 19:06, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi!Qcne, I have incorporated the external links to in-line citations. Do you think it is alright for submission? Thanks so much. Basuproma (talk) 05:34, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nearly! You've got a couple of external links in the Curation section - just fix those and you can re-submit. Qcne (talk) 12:21, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Will check that out too. Thanks so much. Basuproma (talk) 14:17, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

About the formation of Hamburger Arroganz[edit]

Dear User Qcne, Good evening!

I hope you have been doing very well!

I have to send the approval for the draft I edited, Hamburger Arroganz to get it created as an official article. As you commented on the draft which was made by the user, Tom Marx, I cited the information that has used for the article as precisely as possible by following the official regulations made by Wikipedia.

Therefore, I ask you to approve this article as soon as possible!

Kind regards, Albert Albertb0513 (talk) 19:44, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Albertb0513, please look at our notability criteria at WP:NMUSIC. Qcne (talk) 19:51, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Dear user Qcne,
Good day!
I hope you have been doing very well!
I would like to let you know that I know the person who is in the band, Thomas Marx because we live together. If it is anything needed about the document about the discography, I am eager to include it as soon as possible!
Kind regards,
Albert Albertb0513 (talk) 20:44, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Albertb0513.
Unfortunately we prohibit original research so any sources you use in the draft must be published. So far the sources in your draft do not show the band passes the notability criteria I linked above. In order:
  1. Spotify is a Primary source so does not count towards notability.
  2. Viberate is just a database listing.
  3. Discogs is not permitted to be used as a source.
  4. As above.
  5. hitparad is about Thomas Marx, not the band, and is just a database entry listing his career.
  6. Discogs again.

Benefits of Skeuomorphism[edit]

Hello Qcne. About your revert on arrows template, i think skeuomorphist designs will make the buttons easier to notice&understand for new users. Of course you may be surprised by seeing these buttons are changed, but i think you will get used to it as you use it. As written in that source, these designs will make the interface easier to use. Of course these designs may have some disadvantages as written in there, but these are not valid in that status. (Outdated: that's not outdated because new devices are tend to use membrane buttons. Complex: these are not very complex because alphas of shadows and bevels are about only a quarter. Performance: this design cannot decrase performance because the filesize of image is only 4kb and there's only one shadow.) New users will be able to understand these buttons quicker with my design because of increased contrast and the reasons these included at references. Of course i can just put they in my css&js pages, i just think my design will be easier for new users. RuzDD (talk) 01:20, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @RuzDD. Your arrows looked horrendous, totally out of placement with the rest of the visual style of the website. It's not even good skeumorphism, which I can quite like on some UI. I do not believe that graphic design from circa 2006 is going to make this website any easier to use.
If you really want them, please use your own css or start a discussion on the talk page to gain consensus. Qcne (talk) 18:38, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks. So, i'm going to only move buttons to a bit left (some part of right button is not clickable), and after maybe adding a parameter option to the template to allow users to select design. (Note: That's not from 2006 or 2007, i made them yesterday using Adobe Flash CS6 for design and Paint.net for PNG export.) RuzDD (talk) 20:23, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Declined entry for Hans Geissel[edit]

Hello Qcne,

Thank you for reviewing the entry for Hans Geissel Draft:Hans_Geissel and giving me feedback on the inappropriate choice of language. I have updated the entry to hopefully be more objective. I also added some wiki links to the mentioned topics to emphasise the relevance of Hans Geissel's work.

It would be nice if you could take another look at the entry to see if your concerns have been adequately addressed.
Afterwards, I will apply again for a public submission of the draft. Dediggefedde (talk) 12:56, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Draft:Jhanak[edit]

Hi @মেহেদী হাচান বিশ্বাস. You wrote a completely inappropriate article. It was complete spam. Do not submit it again. Qcne (talk) 19:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Telebroad[edit]

Since the user in that article clearly has a conflict of interest and is intending to promote the company, if they submit the article again without improvements, will you reject it? ''Flux55'' (talk) 21:50, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's been submitted again with very little in the way of improvements, so I am leaning towards a reject. Qcne (talk) 09:45, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How to de-orphan and add appropriate categories to entry on Oindrilla Maity Surai[edit]

Dear Qcne, I am seeing the orphaned article template coming back for the second time on Oindrilla Maity Surai. Also, after adding relevant categories at the end of the entry,it keeps showing 'add more specific categories'. Could you please suggest ways how to get rid of these two templates and fix the glitches? Thanks so much. Basuproma (talk) 11:38, 10 February 2024 (UTC).Reply[reply]

Hi @Basuproma. You can remove the Category tag yourself, I think there's probably enough categories now.
The only way to remove the orphan tag is to link the Oindrilla Maity Surai article to other Wikipedia articles using WP:WIKILINKS. Qcne (talk) 19:48, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
