Palataka (Bengali: পলাতকা; English: "The Runaway"[1] or "The Fugitive"[2]) is a Bengali poetry book written by Rabindranath Tagore Tagore. It was published in 1918.[3][4][5][1] It consists of 15 poems.[5][6]
There were mainly two points behind the writing of the book "Palataka".[4] These are: (a) the political tensions and (b) the serious social conditions of the Indian women.[4] The book shows Tagore's rebellious nature and reflects his sensitivity to social life.[3][4]
