Staropoltavsky District (Russian: Старополта́вский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Staropoltavsky Municipal District.[5] It is located in the northeast of the oblast. The area of the district is 4,120 square kilometers (1,590 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Staraya Poltavka.[2] Population: 20,363 (2010 Census);[3] 23,633 (2002 Census);[7] 25,691 (1989 Census).[8] The population of Staraya Poltavka accounts for 20.1% of the district's total population.[3]
