Stelmakhivka (Ukrainian: Стельмахівка) is a village in Kolomyichykha rural hromada, Svatove Raion, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. It had a population of 505 in 2001, however little to no people remain nowadays. The body of local self-government is Stelmakhiv village council.
The village is located near the border of Luhansk and Kharkiv Oblasts, 20 kilometers from Svatove[1] and 23 kilometers from the urban settlement of Borova[disambiguation needed].[2] Administratively, the village was arranged into the Svatove Raion in 2020.[3] The elevation is 146 meters.[4]
The village was founded in 1864.[citation needed]
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the village was temporarily under Russian occupation.
On October 8, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine de-occupied the village from Russian forces.[5][6][7]
On November 3, 2022, the last civilians were evacuated from the village of Stelmakhivka in the Svatove raion after liberation. Residents were persuaded to leave because the Russians were heavily shelling villages.[8] Wintering there will be extremely difficult and dangerous.[9] The village is currently possibly contested.[10][11][12][13]
