Explanation of gameplay[edit]

Having actually watched early playings of this pricing game, I've noticed that it was always the hundreds digit the contestant had to pick out. That is to say, the displays would look something like this:

Yes, it is, and that's already stated in the article. What's your point? -TPIRFanSteve 19:41, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

If you don't guess correctly on a prize, do you keep the prizes you've guessed right up to that point? Or do you have to get them all right to win anything?--Kostia 18:17, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You win everything that you guess correctly. -TPIRFanSteve 23:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Except for in its first appearance on a half-hour show (when it was played third), Golden Road is always the first game played in an episode." Shouldn't this sentence be qualified with "if" or "when" Golden Road is played? Just1thing (talk) 18:46, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose you could also put "Golden Road is always the first game played on an episode in which it appears," although either clarification would be sufficient. Sottolacqua (talk) 18:53, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Double Showcase win sound effect used on Golden Road[edit]

IIRC, years ago they would play the "Double Showcase Winner" sound effect when the contestant won all three prizes. Am I right?

I'm sure Mr. Steve will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the whoopwhoop sfx was or may still be used at any point in the show when a contestant won more than a certain ammount of money, in a game or in the showcase, double or not... TheHYPO 20:31, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, the only games it's used in are Punch a Bunch, Grand Game, Plinko, and It's in the Bag. (They've never been heard in Plinko, but we had it confirmed a while back that they would be used if anyone ever won.) It did used to be used in Golden Road, but that was stopped a long, long time ago. Triple Play also used them for a long time, but that ended sometime last season. -TPIRFanSteve (talk) 05:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spots?[edit]

Can someone clarify the article whether the spots were laid down during the first one-bid DURING carey's first two players, or if there were no spots for 2 playings, then the spots were laid down during one bit from the third playing onward until June? TheHYPO (talk) 07:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is this really worth mentioning if it only pertains to 2 playings out of a 30-year span? Sottolacqua (talk) 15:53, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say so, considering the change was intended to be permanent and (correct me if I'm wrong here Steve) I believe the change was reverted due to fan outcry. Another notable thing about this is that Drew would specifically draw the viewer's attention to the lack of dots, with comments like 'yeah, we're playing a game called Golden Road...there's not really a Golden Road though' or 'let's go down the Golden Road...it's not really there, though, you'll just have to imagine it.' —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 20:32, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The dots were taken away for two playings, as were the prize coves by Door #1 and Door #3 (which aren't always present anyway, but they'd intended to stop using them completely). After that, they started laying down the dots during the IUFB. -TPIRFanSteve (talk) 05:28, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
