There are more refs in the German article, and although the San Jose Mercury News article appears to be online only in blogs and the New York Times article is paywalled, a search on his name shows numerous other press accounts and some book mentions in English. Would anyone object if I upload a new version of the image, cropped with the passport scribbling (I guess) stuff removed? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:35, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
why does the infobox attribute him to the Waffen-SS? Neither the articles text nor one of the sources confirm this. According to the verifiable information given he was a member of the SD which would attribute him to the allgemeine SS, not the Waffen-SS. Phebus333 (talk) 19:53, 4 February 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for pointing this out; I've changed it to Allgemeine SS, which is in fact what the AP/Boston Globe source says. None of the other sources appear to specify, so I don't know where the editor who added the infobox got that. If he was in fact Waffen SS it can be reverted with a ref.
