I believe we need consensus before adding / changing images in the Infobox. I don't believe Trump tower or westin are appropriate. Thanks. Jonathansammy (talk) 21:20, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

The 2018 archived version of citation 3 says that the area of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority is/was 7,256.46 Sq Km, the population: 72.76 Lakhs (Approx), and the number of Municipal Corporations: 2. We have to use an archived version because you get an error if we use the old URL.
People are changing the data without bothering to provide sources. Both versions appear to be unreliable.-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:29, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Citation 2 is a newspaper article dated 6 October 2017 (so it cannot support 2020 data). It says that the area of the city of Pune has increased "with the addition of 80.7 sqkm and a population of 2.78 lakh".-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:44, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Citation 4 and 7 are both to the same newspaper article from 18 January 2018, which says that Pune metropolitan region had an area of "a little over 7,000 sqkm."-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:46, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Citation 5 is to the 2011 Census Handbook. It cannot support 2020 figures.-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:40, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Citations 1 and 6 are to the same newspaper article from 7 October 2017. it says that Pune Municipal Corporation's limits have been expanded from 250.56 sqkm to 331.26 sq km, along with the addition of 2.78 lakh people.-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:53, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Note that this is an article about the city of Pune. There is a separate article for Pune district. I think some editors have not realised this, which is why we have some population figure that resemble the district population.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:07, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
We also have articles on Pune Metropolitan Region and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority. The data we should be most interested in for the article on Pune, is data on the city, which probably means the area governed by the municipal corporation.-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:22, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
The lead has this: an estimated population of 8.4 million as of 2020.[ref][1][2][3][4]

Citation 2 has information that can improve the infobox. It might be added that citation templates do not seem to have been done very well.-- Toddy1 (talk) 17:45, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
@Willondon: I cleaned up the lead and the infobox with respect of population and area on 6 March. But I take your point about the citations being confusing in the lead, so I have changed the positions of the citations in the first sentence:

As mentioned on 6 March, the CNBC TV18 article of 1 July 2021 says: "With its new urban city limits, Pune has now become the seventh largest city in India, with the geographical area of 516.18 sq km (from 331 sq km)." "The population of Pune is around 62 lakh, as per the FY21 presentation made by the PMC Commissioner. Pune has five zones, 15 wards and 42 divisions." 62 lakh = 6,200,000. -- Toddy1 (talk) 07:28, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
There seems to be a descrepancy between the phoentically spelled ˈpuːnə and the audio recording of the city's pronounciation. How should this contradiction be resolved? schetm (talk) 18:33, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
