Ellerslie Eagles[edit]

Created/expanded by Mattlore (talk). Nominated by PFHLai (talk) at 21:17, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Date and length are good. It's a bit over-reliant on a primary source, but these sport histories are usually pretty accurate. About the use of "Kiwi" in the article, is it meant to say the person is a New Zealander, or that they played for a national team? Maybe that should be clearer. Duplication Detector report looks mostly good, but there is one clause ("however the clubs abandoned this union at the end of the same year") which should be rewritten. Does the hook need the "did not officially become known as the Eagles till 1971?" bit? I think it would be okay with just the centenary, and the re-naming doesn't seem very hooky. Otherwise, good work. The Interior (Talk) 02:27, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
The offending clause is now rewritten. --PFHLai (talk) 00:04, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
I was hoping this DYK hook would appear on MainPage during daytime or early evening in Auckland, and I thought the renaming would be an interesting point for younger locals who might be ignorant about the club's history. But I have no problem with the shortening of the hook to remove that bit. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 00:08, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Hook is verified. Rewrite on clause looks good, and Mattlore has cleared up the "Kiwi" bit. I'm fine with the longer hook if you think it will have a regional interest factor. Eagles are go. (Prep Makers - please choose a Pacific-friendly hook set for this, thanks) The Interior (Talk) 01:50, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
