  • Length is OK and all reffed. No sign of cut and paste and image is licensed for use. Hook is OK but long. Suggestion below Victuallers (talk) 10:52, 26 October 2020 (UTC) Promoter can decide on hook. Thx Victuallers (talk) 21:52, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
@Victuallers:Thanks for the review. The old hook was wordy indeed, and I'd be happy for ALT1 to proceed in principle. But I think the phrase "new Syrian neighbours" is somewhat vague and does not bring out the fact the this book is meant to aid the integration of refugees. Perhaps, I'm underestimating the general reader and it's obvious that that's what is meant. Let me know what you think. Modussiccandi (talk) 11:40, 26 October 2020 (UTC) I think the key word is "neighbours", if the reader doesnt hear "integration" in that word then not much we can do to help :-) Victuallers (talk) 21:52, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Have ALT1 and ALT2 been approved? Yoninah (talk) 17:25, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Yoninah, I think the reviewer added both of them. I certainly don't object to either, Modussiccandi (talk) 17:41, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
  • The hooks check out but they're all pretty boring. How about the fact she's published over 100 children's books? Kingsif (talk) 08:56, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the review. I actually think that the current hook facts are fairly interesting because the integration of Syrian refugees was/is such a fought-over topic in Germany. I get why publishing 100 books will catch most readers eyes more easily, but the book she wrote for refugee children is a great piece of activism and something few other children's writers will have done. Modussiccandi (talk) 10:53, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Ok, but to the general reader - mostly Americans who don't know about German foreign policy in the slightest - the theme of a book is one of the least interesting facts about it if they don't understand all that context, which would be hard to get through in a hook. You can try if you like. Kingsif (talk) 12:09, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
I see your point. I'll add another hook below. Modussiccandi (talk) 12:16, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
hmmm "most Americans" should understand German immigration policy. The policy is well known in the EU. (Is our average reader presumed to live in the USA??) The US would have to welcome 3 million immigrants over "the wall" to keep up. I think ALT3 is much less interesting - but I have lost a lot of interest anyway - DYK seems to take weeks to choose between "quite good" and "maybe marginally better if". As I said above. Let the promoter decide, it checks out with a source. Victuallers (talk) 15:38, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

I keep returning to DYK to do a review ... and then I find that my review has been reviewed - its not inspiring - this article that was new and which had a hook that inspired me to do a review is now nearly two months old... and one meta-reviewer thinks its boring. I have to agree with that opinion because ... time has worn my interest away. Victuallers (talk) 16:02, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
