VfD Campaign against books critical to Islam

Howdy,

Recently I've been filling out the category Category:Books critical of Islam with articles about a contemporary books that are critical of Islam. One would think that documenting a verifiyable sub genre of books would not cause offense. But sadly this is not the case. I urge all wikipedian's concerned with having an encyclopedic encyclopedia to look at the following articles and their VfD's. Klonimus 23:34, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Just so you know, I reverted your changes to Yoko Ono and to Yoko Ono (singer). As the singer is clearly the primary topic there, I have followed Wikipedia:Disambiguation and simply inserted a line at the top of Yoko Ono referencing the song. Yoko Ono (singer) now redirects to Yoko Ono. I hope this is OK. Cheers, [[smoddy]] 15:13, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pox Party

Hello. I deleted Pox party because it appears to be a senseless stub with two sentences created by an anon. user. The entire text was: Party organised by parents who's kids have the chicken pox. In this way, the other kids can be infected by the virus, since it's much safer to have this disease during childhood then when being an adult. Interested in fixing it ? I can undelete it. If not, I'll delete Talk:Pox party, too. Please let me know. Thanks. -- PFHLai 13:42, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really see why the pag wasn't stub sorted in stead of speedily deleted... However, yes I will try to fix the article on Pox Parties. --SoothingR 14:11, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
As you noted on Talk:Pox party, it was a horrendous idea. I find it incredible, and thought it was a joke entry. Hence the speedy delete. It's now undeleted. Please fix it up if you can. Thank you. -- PFHLai 14:19, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help, dude. Also; when I read the original article, I only believed it because I had heard about it on TV a few months ago.--SoothingR 14:36, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, don't thank me. Thank YOU for turning that into a useful stub. Good job. -- PFHLai 14:47, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Soothing Sunshine

Hey , Yeah I would be interested. Wait I still don't know how to put line breaks in wikipedia. highbreed By the way most of the inforamtion that I got came from wikipedia and nicholas yee's website You check the references. By the way visit my friendster website look me up it's mankeykors@yahoo.com

Thank you!

:) Thank you for the Wikibirthday greetings! Grutness...wha? 23:42, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikibirthday

You gave me a wikibirthday thingy for User:Plbosman. Was this on purpose? bob rulz 01:53, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Thanks for the one year b-day! bob rulz 03:22, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How about me? You gave me one for Mitchowen! -- Ricky81682 (talk) 04:04, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You recently edited Template:Nn-warn (talk · links · edit) to "remove a contradiction", suggesting that if the creator of an article could demonstrate notability, s/he should remove the speedy tag. This is a very bad idea. I have disccued this at greater length on the template's talk page, but this was an intentional feature of the template's original wording, not an accident or oversight. DES (talk) 01:59, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Bin.gif

I see that you labeled Image:Bin.gif for a possible copyvio, and didn't add an entry to Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2005 October 29. Therefore, I would like to know why you think it is a copyright violation. The license looks good to me. -- SoothingR 13:07, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it on the 22nd, so it's on Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2005 October 22. The license reads, in part, "You may not distribute them in anyway [sic], for profit or otherwise, without our prior written permission." It doesn't get much clearer than that. —Cryptic (talk) 13:12, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I guess I misread the whole text. The part that reads "You may use it freely in your own work and within your institution or organisation"`must have make me misunderstood. However, I guess you can delete the image anyway. It's orphaned anyway, and the purpose which I uploaded it for is gone. -- SoothingR 13:21, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bron-y-Aur

Hiya. You requested a song infobox on the article Bron-Y-Aur. I'm not altogether sure how to do this. The article is about a place. The two songs are mentioned, but if you want to create giant infoboxes, might it not be better to create [Bron-y-Aur (song)] and [Bron yr Aur Stomp (song)] to contain them? They look otherwise as though they will swamp the article. I'm not saying you have to. I'm just suggesting it's a thought. Thanks. --Telsa 16:30, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Birthday

Queen talk page

Hi SoothingR, The Queen talk page seems extremely long and full of arcane discussions about parts of the article that no longer exist. I was trying to help by removing these, so a more useful discussion about the current and future directions of the article could take place. If you'd like to give me some ideas on how to be more helpful, I'd appreciate it, thanks. Stevage 15:43, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The talkpage is not that long compared to many other talkpages. See Talk:Main Page if you would like to see a really good example. Also, when the talkpage gets too long (as in..over 100 sections), an archive is made of the discussions. For example, Talk:Main Page/Archive 1 is an archive of old discussions on Talk:Main Page.
On the subject of being helpful, there are many ways in which you can prove to be helpful. You can help creating articles, fight vandalism, join WikiProjects..just take a look at the Community Portal for tasks and things you can do at Wikipedia. Once again, welcome! -- SoothingR(pour) 15:54, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
[reply]

Ok, but in the context of the Queen page - call it my personal obsession that will last about 2 days. Would it not be helpful to delete the various messages like How Come I Can't Find A Site Telling Me The Dates For When Greatest Hits I Came Out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They Are Very Good And I Am Only 11 And Like Them. or It appears that someone has managed to put insults in the article without my being able to edit them out. / Which insults are these, and where are they? You can edit any part of the article - just click "edit this page" up at the top. — Dan | Talk 05:17, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC) ?

Perhaps there are even more useful things to do, but to actually undelete such deletions seems especially counterproductive? I appreciate your responses.

Let me start off by recommending you to sign your posts when you're done with a discussion on a talkpage, it's easier for others to see who said it. On the whole delete thing, I'm just applying Wikipedia guidelines. WP:TPG states that nothing should be deleted, rather, it should be archived. And since the talkpage of Queen (band) is not excessively large, I don't really see a reason to take action in the form of archiving, nor in the form of deleting. -- SoothingR(pour) 16:40, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Thank you very much indeed for the wiki-birthday message...just out of curiosity (as I don't suppose you've been watching me the whole time, but who knows...), how do you find the birthday dates (is it a bot?)? Regards.--Lectonar 07:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, I could only WISH that I was able to code such a bot. I use the List of Wikipedians in order of arrival to see who has to be congratulated on his/her Wikibirthday. It may be a little sour to those who didn't add theirselves to the list, but it would really be too much work for me otherwise. -- SoothingR(pour) 07:41, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

China-hist-stub

I know you meant well, but the use of the iconography of the People's Republic of China for generic Chinese stubs is something the Stub Sorting project explicitly avoids due to POV problems over which government is the government of China, the one in Beijing or the one in Taipei. I put in place the icon from {China-stub} as a replacement. Caerwine 21:18, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Burning Vision

Hello. Just wondering if you could take a look at the revised Burning Vision Entertainment page you recently commented on and let me know any thoughts you may have on it. Cheers, James

Yes, that's a nice load of improvement. The comments which I gave in the article's nomination on AfD do not apply anymore. Well done. -- SoothingR(pour) 17:34, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Ayrton

Please take a look at the Tom Ayrton article you marked for improvement and check if it still needs improvement. If it, in your opinion, still does, please state why, as best as you can, on the article's discussion page. If it is ok now, please remove that tag. Thanks, Nahum | [[User talk:Nahum|Talk]] 05:52, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for notifying me. I have checked the entire article and fixed the remainders of stuff that still made it so that having the ((cleanup))-tag was appropiate. Once again, thanks for the notification. -- SoothingR(pour) 15:12, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Parody is fair use. -- Netoholic @ 22:01, 3 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The guidelines don't mention parody as one of the means for which fair use applies... -- SoothingR(pour) 08:20, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That is true, only because parody is not something you would find in the main encyclopedia. Nonetheless, parody is fair use. -- Netoholic @ 18:26, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the barnstar, SoothingR! Such motivation is perhaps exactly what I need in order to be able to continue on this project, something which seems to be becoming harder by the day, as more and more disruptive users join the Wikipedia and are granted protection instead of being scolded. As long as good editors such as you are still part of the project, however, there is actually a reason to go on. Best of luck to you and my sincere wishes that you stay around and keep contributing to the so neglected subject of non-mainstream bands and their work. PS: it's pretty cool to see somebody other than me using my rating system. :) Regards, --Sn0wflake 21:32, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

the title of a song is a most worthless thing to argue about... but in Finnish the titles are written always without capital letters. Don't know, however, should we go for the English way, or respect the original language. But it still looks awful like that, I can tell you...

Wronkian

You are only sixteen years old, what right do you have to change my edits on an article that is intended for university students, please dont edit pages you have no knowledge of or dont even care about.

That is truly beside the point. You were adding random stuff to it, like adding red links at places that didn't make sense, links to test. One does not need to be an university student to understand that that is not common Wikipedia procedure. -- SoothingR(pour) 10:56, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok granted that the edit didnt make sense, but I was trying to work out why I couldnt get the link to work, I still dont understand why you are even on this page, are you interested in the material? Oh yes and give me some time to finish what I am editing, thats the main problem with this site, people revert pages without even considering if the info is worth while, one of the main reasons I do not use this page as much as I should

In that case, I would like to recommend you to use the preview-button, so that you can fix your mistakes before other people think your edits are spam, or vandalism of whatever kind. Also, please sign your comments. -- SoothingR(pour) 11:07, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to compliment you on your mature reaction. By the way, your accent is as much Received Pronunciation as Dutch; I'm not sure I'd recognize it as Dutch if I hadn't known before, but I immediately recognize almost all Dutchmen when they speak English. Why did you Delete my Kneeguru entry/

What was your reason for deleteing my kneeguru entry.... I have seen stuff on wiki that is rude towards woman, blacks and social classes. So why did you single out my article? It's a new word that people are starting to use. And it has less harshess then some of the terms and slang I've seen on wiki.

I deleted this page after you had (correctly) speedy tagged it, if you have any difficulty remembering what this is about. A new version of article has been created at Kneeguru and I'll probably AFD it tonight if I have any free time. Leithp (talk) 14:55, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stadium Arcadium

That wasn't me playing with Wikipedia. LIHP is the album that comes before Stadium Arcadium, not By the Way. Chilis discography recently has been:

By the Way (2002) Greatest Hits (2003) Live in Hyde Park (2004) Stadium Arcadium (2006) AdamSolomon 03:52, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds fine but then there's a discontinuity problem you should fix somehow. The By the Way page puts Greatest Hits as being next, and then links to LIHP, and then Stadium. So the Stadium page is currently the only one that doesn't in with the scheme of the rest. Not sure how you'd want to go about fixing that? -- AdamSolomon 19:52, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

G'day Mr R

Thanks for welcoming me to the wp. I wholly disagree with comments above regarding your contributions to Wronskian - I think you do very good work! - and I think that your age does not preclude you at all from editing Wronskian. Within Temptation

Thats because they are Symphonic Metal. The catagorys need overhauling anyways, i suggest going through the articles and changing the catagorys of bands to fit, because at the minute, Wikipedia is a conflict of 1000 different POV's from people who most of the time have no idea on a given subject.
