I just sent an email to the persons that used the image in the article that I got it from. They hopefully will be sending me an email with their permission soon, I will then forward that email to Wikipedia to solve this problem. I also believe the image is covered under “Fair use, Images with iconic status or historical importance: As subjects of commentary.”(talk) 22:37, 28 February 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicholasweed (talk • contribs)
Hey there, you left a message on my talk page about an image being non fair use or something... I don't upload that many photos and I have no clue what you just wrote means... You proabobly have no idea what I am speaking of so go to my take page. Would you let me know on My talk page what it is that I am supposed to do? Thanks! Stealth (talk) 01:16, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. This is the article i got the picture from http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2008/12/04/christina_aguilera_s_strapless_shimmerin i don't know how to contact with the person who wrote it. So, which tag should i use?--Chronisgr (talk) 22:12, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi Dave, I noticed your started the Thomas A. DeFanti article. Now I have made several mistakes expanding this article July 2008, regarding "close paraphrasing", "not using quotation marks", and not (enough) rewriting secundary sources. I wonder if you could take a look, and helping fix some of it. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 02:01, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Richard Marx has granted permission of his photo to be used in his Wikipedia article. I've noticed that you've placed a tag that would subject it to deletion. How do I make sure that it is permitted to stay on Wikipedia? What criteria do I need to provide in order to do this? I hope that you can help me. Thank you in advance! --Candy156sweet (talk) 18:37, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Can i read your message in not-verbose? please help me with uploading images. What should i do about bassong's image? i haven't found a sufficient fine-quality image on the 'net and the previous illustration was terrible. Kiagla (talk) 19:15, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

In regards to this, I would rather dicuss this particular issue with you rather than see an irrational deletion tag slapped on it. Yes I did choose the wrong licensing when uploading the image, however surely that can be changed rather than just see it be deleted right? I will admit I am extremely inexperienced in dealing with image licensing and copyright, however the website I got it from does give permission for its content to be used. Meaning there must be something which apropriately suits it here on wikipedia. Routerone (talk) 20:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
This is a file from Flickr: [1]. There, it is labeled as "Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.0 Generic". What's wrong with its upload? Gryllida (talk) 06:43, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I actually saw the file on two different news websites, but I got it from Google. It is the work of a Reuters journalist.
I don't have enough time to be active enough to police all of this user's contributions (which have included twice creating an article on a non-existent individual named "Lakshmi Narayan Singh"), so I'm notifying you that he's trying to circumvent the permission issues you raised regarding File:Mr Nikhil Kumar.jpg by uploading File:Mr Nikhil Kumar Singh.jpg. I would suspect he's doing the same for other images as well. Lexicon (talk) 19:29, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
The uploaded photo has been reloaded from the City of Atlanta website. Thus, it is a photo within the Public Domain. It is also widely used throughout the internet in addition to the municipal website. How do I indicate its status as a freely licensed image??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by John E. Thanks for uploading File:Courchesne_LandscapeOne.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
((di-replaceable fair use disputed))
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 12:07, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
I just had a question about the file I uploaded yesterday, which is being (or has been) speedy deleted. This is only my 2nd image ever uploaded and I thought I had done the right thing. Unfortunately, the copyright policies are extremely complex and although I have spent time trying to learn, obviously I have made a mistake. Regarding File:James Lafferty.jpg, creative commons images which say "attribution", but ALSO "non-commercial" and/or "non-derivative works" are not allowed? I am assuming it's the "non-commercial" part? I didn't realize Wiki was considered a commercial use. I'm just trying to learn--I'd appreciate any info you can provide to clarify this so I can avoid the issue in the future. Thanks! --Logical Fuzz (talk) 16:00, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
In November 2009 you have exposed on removal File:Shitik 2007.jpg Till now there is no free replacement. You will create it or will restore the image?--Andrey! 08:04, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi. This image that I uploaded has been marked for deletion. This IS a freely licenced image. Could you please help me by adjusting the images details here so it is fit for Wikipedia. Thanks. JoelRussell - Talk Contribs 20:12, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

The image you have asked to be deleted is of very poor quality and was scanned from a cheaply made postcard which has no copyright attributions to it. Unfortunately the barn seems to be closed to any visitation and this situation is unlikely to change. Therefore it is highly unlikely that a view of the interior is likely to be acquired for this article. I suggest that you go ahead with your deletion plans and remove the image. Stavros1 (talk) 20:21, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
This image is replaceable. There are a lot of official photos of Jacques Mahul and this one is one of them. I've got it from Focal-JMLab PR department for printed and web publication as I wish (I'm a pressman). The photo of company's key person is a part of brand strategy and can change with time. If somebody from Focal-JMLab stuff deside with time to use another Jacques Mahul's photo as best suitable to possible new total brand image, the photo can be replaced. Thanks for commentary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Top Sound (talk • contribs) 15:15, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Ref your help on Tag problems and Life of Riley, what is the site for the copyright (US) government's database so I can use it in future searches before trying to place a screen shot on wikipedia?
This iron strictness on copyright has come as a bit of a shock to me. Like many others, I have used screen shots and other images on internet forums and posted them on photobucket where they have been used by others. Youtube is full of film sections of recently copyrighted media. I can understand where someone may be selling a 2010 film that they have pirated for a profit but old B&W TV programmes? I cannot conceive of what kind of person would give a damn about screen shots. At worst (assuming they do not reveal mystery endings) they are free publicity for the original products.
I have given a "non-free use rationale" on the offending jpeg. I could not find the template or how to do the box for one. If it is deleted I'll put it on an actor biography or TV programme site. Lots of them about but no pictures of John Brown as far as I've seen. (Cyberia3 (talk) 11:06, 7 May 2010 (UTC))
Thanks for your help on copyright. It is a bit of a minefield to the uninitiated. If the wikipedia doesn't have one already, I think it could do with a page about screenshots, as they are so easy to make now, and so tempting to use.
Maybe you can help me on something? I downloaded a picture: Crane_1.jpg and cannot get the article: Crane (TV series) to accept it. Any idea what is wrong? (Cyberia3 (talk) 15:46, 10 May 2010 (UTC))
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Maxwell thermodynamic surface.png. I added in a fair use section. Please check. --Libb Thims (talk) 04:03, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't know what to do! I thought I did write everything needed in the first picture. As for the second one, my computer get frozen before completing specifying the licence. Anyway, can you tell me what should I do now?
