Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Melanie Sanford), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 07:31, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi I am new to editing of wikikepia. I believe most of the references came from reliable sources. Could you please point out the ones Wikipedia flag as faulty/ not reliable so I don't make this mistake in the future? Attabey Rodz (talk) 15:11, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Hi Attabey. Welcome to Wikipedia! I appreciate that you've very clearly stated your conflict of interest with the topic Alison R.H. Narayan on your user page. That said, I very very strongly discourage you from writing about topics that you have a conflict of interest in (e.g. your boss, your coworkers, maybe even the exact enzyme(s) you work on in the lab) here on Wikipedia. I think you'll find it is very challenging for any of us to write well-balanced and neutral articles about the topics that we are too close to. These too-close-to-home articles tend to attract critics and result in a bad experience for the writer and for the various patrolling editors trying to clean up the articles. There's a whole huge world of chemistry and academia pages here, many of which are in awful shape (not to mention the huge world of chemistry and academic topics that lack pages completely!), and lots to be done. If you're interested in writing about chemistry topics, you'll find a group of helpful editors at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemistry with similar interests who would be happy to have another interested editor! Similarly, if you're interested in writing about academics try Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities, Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography, or for women in academia Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red. Anyway, I hope you decide to stick around. We could certainly use more scientists on the project. If there's any way I can be of assistance, please let me know here or at my talk page. Happy editing! Hi there, Attabey Rodz, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have already made a good start on Ingrid del Carmen Montes González. As a new contributor, you might find it useful to look through our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 11:36, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I left some feedback for you here: User talk:Flavinista/AdrianaOcampo. Thanks! Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 23:07, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi there, Flavinista. Thanks for updating your WiR profile with your new user name. I see you have already created quite a few women's biographies. I hope there will be many more. Glad to see there are so many links to Women in Red on your U-M library project. (Perhaps you can correct Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Scientistst to Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Scientists.) Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 10:56, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

Women in Red 8th Anniversary |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |
