Hi, Koman. I noticed your comment on Silvergoat's talk page, in which you said your main reason for replacing PNGs with SVGs is to save server space. Please read Wikipedia:Don't worry about performance—"saving space" is not really one of the reasons we prefer SVGs here. (In particular, if you replace a PNG with an SVG, the PNG file remains on the server; even if it's deleted, it's kept internally to provide things like undeletion. Not to mention the fact that the servers cache the generated PNG thumbnails for SVGs at various resolutions. So you really aren't reclaiming any space.) There are several reasons we prefer SVGs over PNGs: the two biggest ones are that SVGs are easier to edit and they can be rendered at any resolution. I would refer you to the "Benefits of SVG transition" information on my homepage here on Wikipedia, i am only converting images that have been flagged for SVG conversion currently or in the past. Not only dos it reduce size but allows the image to be rendered as large or as small as possible, the quality issue is what he was adressing, were not my key reason for conversion. Thanks Charles E. Okay, I see. That's fine. I just happened to jump into the conversation in the middle, and I was responding to your comment, "I wloud think with all the content on the wikimedia server that there would be at least a peatabyte of media alone, my contribution as a wikigraphicist is image/file compression, if i save diskl space i essential6y save the foundation money and get rid of advertising like you see on the Wikipedia pages today." I support the replacement of PNGs with SVGs; I was just making a minor point about the fact that such replacement doesn't actually save any disk space. —Bkell (talk) 01:29, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

With the first of what I hope will be monthly newsletters I again want to welcome you to the project and hope that as we all work together through the year we can expand the project, create missing articles and generally improve the pedia thought mutual cooperation and support. Now that we have a project and a solid pool of willing members I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and solicite help in doing a few things that I believe is a good next step in solidifiing the project. I have outlined a few suggestions where you can help with on the projects talk page. This includes but is not limited too updating Portal:United States, assessing the remaining US related articles that haven't been assessed, eliminating the Unrefernced BLP's and others. It looks like you're trying to hide your SIM ID. Although I'm not certain the SIM ID needs protection, you could use better blurring of the numbers. I recommend using random pixel spreading then blurring, or simply covering with a solid color. The number being hidden is "89014........". Also, there is a barcode (code 128?) just above the blurred text which has the same information and one could use a online barcode decoder to read it. Thank you, while I can neither confirm nor deny weather that is SIM ID for an active Tracwone Wireless, Inc. GSM phone subscription, I can confirm that a SIM ID dose in fact need to be protected to prevent SIM cloning through a reverse engineering process. However, On the Tracfone virtual network however there is also an IMEI lock on the SIM card to keep the card form being used on another phone, as well as custom firmware on the phones to read only Tracfone SIM Cars. I will take appropriate pixel randomization procedures first thing in the morning. Right now I am on My Chrome Beta Laptop so i am limited to web apps, such as Wikipedia and gmail. --Charles E. While I do think it's a good idea to allow different copyright tags inside the file page, some recent edits you made seem to have added ugly braces to the template. Perhaps it should be changed back? mechamind90 05:43, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm having problems, i's not really broken, just being temperamental, the brackets are there so when i reference a template form the template namespace it is nested inside. if you have any way to improve my code it would me greatly appreciated. However, i really don't want to go back to the old version because it defaults to Fair use logo and SVG trademarks and quite a few of my SVGs are not copyrighted.

Hello Koman. I was browsing through wikipedia when I came across three SVG files created and tagged by you with a template, however in the end of the template several parameters were left over confusing me, so I was a little reckless here and edited it, to remove all those (()) that were showing on it. Hey Koman90, I saw you uploaded an SVG/Vector version of the Apple Inc logo, but the exact coloring does not really match the original. Thank you for contacting me, I was wondering if anyone was going to use that logo. I will see if i can make those adjustments, i'm not that advanced In SVGs though, most of what I make is directly converted form another vector format or extracted from a corporate PDF document.

If you cloud find a pdf document with the apple logo in vector format, meaning it doesn't highlight when clicked in adobe or foxit reader, i could use that, otherwise i may need to call in a professional graphic artist to improve this logo. If you know a wikigraphicist that is willing to help me with this logo please feel free to have them chime in regarding this matter.

Additionally, it may not bee this week as I just had half of my seven wisdom teeth removed, so i'm in some pretty strong pain and won't be felling up to doing something that already fells like pulling teeth anyway. Like I said graphic design is not my strongest subject, but I will try to resolve this matter as soon as i'm feeling better. --Charles E. The speedy deletion was done in accordance with F1 (copy of existing file) and F5 (redundant, unused, non-free file), the talk page was then deleted in accordance with G8 (talk page for non-existent file/article). Your file was deleted as it was a copy of an existing file, because your image contained incorrect logos, glitchy graphics, and didn't come form a reliable source. Also I noticed your note that said you were working on fixing the glitched graphics--it shouldn't have been uploaded until it was fixed, as it will be deleted. Addtional comment-I don't think of "elegant" as a word to describe a Wikipedia article as it is against policy to use images just for decoration but i agree it shouldn't look "ugly", like the previous screenshot with the bright orange color, and the logo lacking the wordmark. I agree it looks "better" however.

True that images aren't supposed to be decorative in nature, but making the article look attractive for readers makes Wikipedia better, which is why we are all here! - Ahunt (talk) 22:55, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

You reduced the dimensions of the picture but I think you've done the opposite of adding transparency. Before the rounded edges had transparent pixels and now they just have solid-black pixels. I'll just do it myself with the program I used in the beginning, Photoshop.

I note that you are adding the template "User:Koman90/BatchResized" to images that you have fair-use reduced, the text of which says, in part:

Image Resized by Charles E. Keisler, any questions, please ask me on my talk page.
If your image has been resized, and you don't understand why a high resolution version of your image is not premmited, please ask.

Due to the nature of my Batch image reziging, I often don't know the context of what I am editing.
If this image is not correct in any way, do not hesitate to remove it from the article.
In such a situation, please notify me.

It seems to me that this is not a particularly good idea. By personalizing the template to be about your actions, it implies a degree of ownership of the images you've worked on, when, in fact, all you've done is to reduce their size. It also implies that you are doing automated or semi-automated edits without paying close attention to what the edits are.

I would suggest that you stop using this template, and that you remove it from the images you've used it on, as it does not seem to me to be in the spirit of a collaborative endeavor such as Wikipedia. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:31, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

I did not intend for it to sound that negative, it may be because I copied/pasted my svg template. I do appreciate your input, the only reason i did is because i have had some minor glitches with my process even when it looks like I got the image processing right, such as black borders around the opaque part of PNG transparencies. I have updated the phrases in the template please review them, if the new template still causes issues I will stop using it. As for clarifcation i do know what i'm editing, there are just minor glitches. The context of my SVG template for The Graphics lab says "due to the nature of my mass svg creation i often do not know the context of what i am adding" witch was a copy/paste of a retired wikigraphicst by the name of Neurolysis. I wloud have let him know that i copied the code as people have done to me for my user-space but he is retired and will not likely read his talk page.--68.7.27.84 (talk) 23:41, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

In general, I think there is no need for this template at all. If there's something wrong with the image that occured in the fair use reduction you performed, it will be apparent in the thumbnails on the image page. Anyone who finds such a problem can revert your change and drop you a note, they don't need a template to tell them to do so. Also, it's hard to see what would go wrong with a reduction, which should be a simple mechanical process, that would require such a template to be used. If there's some problem with the image itself, the inquiry should go to the uploader, not to you. Altogether, I see little need for the template, which clutters up the image page, and has (I'm sorry to point out) several misspellings in it.

Again, please continue with the fair-use reductions and other good contributions you're making, but I urge you to stop using the template altogether, and remove it from the image pages you've placed it on. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:23, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
