You are welcome! There is little evidence. He was raised a Hindu in India who converted to Christianity. Given his oriental background and first-hand familiarity with the oriental customs in the Bible, recognition is largely irrelevant. In the introduction of his book "Light through an Eastern Window" he states that he was assigned the ministry of "...teaching those Orientalisms throughout the Western world...it has taken me to the continent of Europe, to the British Isles, and, currently, to the United States and Canada." If you wish to re-edit the page in question to indicate that Pillai's contribution is a personal testimony, I would not object.

One criticism I have for Pillai's work is that although he does capture the superficial meanings of the oriental customs he does not necessarily show the cultural thinking or intent behind the custom. Well, if they are not widely accepted, we probably shouldn't include them at all, under the WP:FRINGE policy. If, on the other hand, Pillai's theories have been taken up by a significant part of the scholarly community (as indicated by independent sources), then those sources should be cited. Two final points: One could include this work in the same class as the work done by Kenneth E. Bailey (e.g. "The Cross & the Prodigal", ISBN 0-8308-3281-5). The book "Manners and Customs of the Bible" by James M. Freeman (ISBN 0-88270-022-7), includes similar (contemporary anecdotal) information in the entry on "Use of Salt". It agrees with some of the information documented in "Light through an Eastern Window". I don't think the use of such information should offend scholars or be considered as unusual.
