I reverted your edit to the first sentence of Heteronormativity. At the time, I didn't realize you were still a new editor, or I would have toned it down in the edit summary and given you more expanation and tips. So, I apologize if that seemed a little harsh to you, and hope you stay on as an editor. It takes a while to get on board with all the different guidelines and policies around here, so it's not surprising that you might run into disputes or reverts now and then.

A couple of things to keep in mind when editing here, especially as a new editor:

• consider avoiding the WP:LEAD of an article, until you gain more experience; the lead occupies a special position in the article; it's a summary of the body of the article. Changing even a single word can be problematic, and before you change stuff in the lead, you usually have to change stuff in the body to support it.
• certain topic areas at Wikipedia can be controversial, and that includes articles about gender-related topics; if you decide to continue editing in this topic area, watch the history of the article, and consider discussing changes you want to make on the Talk page before you make them, to see what other editors have to say about it.
