speedy deletions advice[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I have been examining your speedy deletion nominations. There are a number of problems.

Some of your deletion nomination were correct, but at this point you are doing 50:50. The goal, even for a beginner, is 90% at least . Contributors who write articles deserve to have them properly evaluated. Most people whose first articles get negative criticism never return to Wikipedia. We overworked admins need to go about our business of deleting the thousands of articles that need deletion, without having to deal with clearly incorrect nominations. It has taken me quite some time today explaining to the people who received your incorrect notices that they have been doing nothing wrong, and apologizing to them on behalf of the encyclopedia.

There reasons for your errors are twofold.

  1. You apparently have not yet read carefully the relevant policy pages. WP:Deletion policy and WP:CSD, nor the pages dealing with how and when we make redirects. They need to be mastered in detail before even starting to use them. The best way of learning is to follow a few discussions at WP:AFD, and, after you have listened in for a while, make comments, and see how they are taken. that's how I learned.
  2. You have not yet actually added any content to Wikipedia. It is very difficult to judge what to do with articles without some experience writing them. You do not have to start out by adding new articles: it is much better to start by adding information to articles in your field of interest, always using a source and adding it properly. Some of the help pages listed above will give you some guidance, and you can always ask me anything on my talk page.

I hope you will realize the inadvisability of continuing to mark articles for deletion until you have considerably more experience here. DGG ( talk ) 23:47, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Attached KML[edit]

Subpages of this template will not have wiki-like text as the text of the article is parsed by map websites like Google Maps or Bing Maps in order to draw a line on the map showing the feature/place being described in the article. Please do not add wikicode to any subpage of Template:Attached KML as this will break the map if it is trying to be viewed. —Mr. Matté (Talk/Contrib) 20:13, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New deal for page patrollers[edit]

Hi PetikeWP,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Flight Sim World[edit]

The article Flight Sim World has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable, unsourced game.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the ((proposed deletion/dated)) notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing ((proposed deletion/dated)) will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
