The English Wiktionary is having a discussion at wikt:Wiktionary:Grease pit/2013/November about best how to re-organize our language metadata for ease of editing. (Currently we have a single data-module that maps all known language-tags to information about language-names, script info, diacritic-removal rules, and so on.) Since we use the language metadata on 3,544,079 pages (about 92.6% of our pages), and edit them pretty often, I think it would be good if a MediaWiki dev could take a look and say whether there are any performance considerations we should be keeping in mind, whether there are any approaches that are better than others, etc.

Dear Qgil-WMF -
You long ago made a great contribution to the article on Earth system science, when you added a section called "Inspiration in the Gaia theory." I wanted you to be aware of current activities involving it: everything you did with that section was removed completely by Toby Tyrrell back in November of 2014, with a brief comment that it was irrelevant. Tyrrell is a leading critic of Gaia theory, with a book purporting to "disprove" it. I found this to be an egregious conflict of interest, and complained about it when I noticed it early this summer. I then wrote a new and more in-depth section based on yours - but with your Amsterdam Declaration section made into its own separate section, etc. I also added a lot of non-Gaia material to the whole ESS entry.
Anyhow, the Gaia material has been continuously removed and the subject of more or less constant edit warring since. If you care about this material, it could surely use more editors who don't exactly want to expunge "Gaia" from the discussion!! Very best, Terradactyl (talk) 02:01, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

I see you've read my comments on the Community Relations talk page at Meta. Another outdated page is your userpage, which doesn't mention your role in Community Relations, or anything about whatever it is that Community Relations does. As you may have seen on @Katherine (WMF):'s talk page, she has said that responses to posts on her talk page will come from Community Relations. She also said that "They [Community Relations] brief me weekly on what’s going on, and highlight when there’s something I should be engaging with directly". I think it would be helpful to the Community to know the content of these briefings, not least so we can be assured that Community Relations is in tune with the Community. As it is, almost none of us know anything about what it does. I've been on Wikipedia for years and the first I heard of it was Katherine's post. DuncanHill (talk) 09:14, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
