Are you serious?

Just noticed that you suddenly placed a retired template on your user page. Is everything fine with you? Maliner (talk) 19:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just a bit worried about your sudden decision. Nothing else. Maliner (talk) 19:53, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know it may seem sudden, but I've been thinking about this for a while now. I've lost interest in editing at large and don't see myself contributing any longer. I thank everyone who has ever helped me here. Who knows, I may return sometime to check in, but for now I'm retiring. I wish you all the best, Schminnte [talk to me] 20:03, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please check your mail. Maliner (talk) 20:07, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I had been hoping to review your synthesizer GAN soon, but I've been a bit bogged down in the weeds irl lately. Take care, maybe see you back some day. — Jon (talk) 11:17, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, wow. I did not see that coming. Well, thank you for your service and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavo(u)rs. Godspeed. QueenofHearts 04:16, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's disheartening to see that you've left Wikipedia. :( — DreamRimmer (talk) 07:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I wish you all the best and hope you may come back one day.
(I realized that you sent me a Discord message about the WikiCup, but I never saw it. My apologies, I did not want you to think I was ignoring you.) – Epicgenius (talk) 23:32, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We will miss you, and thank you for what you contributed. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:42, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seconding this, really sad to see you retire, your work during the NPP backlog drive and beyond was one of my motivations for getting more involved in Wikipedia. Wish you the best for your IRL endeavours :) Sohom (talk) 08:49, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Precious anniversary

Precious
One year!

--Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC) The image above, taken on a cemetery last year after the funeral of a distant but dear family member, commemorates today, with thanks for their achievements, four subjects mentioned on the Main page and Vami_IV, a friend here. Thank you for your post! - Listen to music by Tchaikovsky (an article where one of the four is pictured), sung by today's subject (whose performance on stage I enjoyed two days ago). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:47, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: Prior to your recent retirement, you were nominated and accepted as an Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

On November 13, 2023 User:Prodraxis submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I would like to nominate Editor Schminnte for Editor of the Week. Schminnte is a wonderful content writer who mainly works on articles about music, with recognized work such as Blood on the Floor (Turnage), Scaramouche (Milhaud), Monotron and A (For 100 Cars). Schminnte is also active on maintenance tasks such as New Pages Patrol, CSD, AfC and vandalism reversion in addition to content work. Everything this editor does is top-notch, and I won't be shocked at all if they become an admin someday.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

((User:UBX/EoTWBox))

It is only fitting that, in spite of your retirement, you receive this award as a recognition of your endeavors here at Wikipedia. Thanks again for your efforts! The clerks at Editor Retention and the nominator wish you well. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 13:57, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
