Disambiguation link notification for January 27

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Druze, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Afshar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 20:06, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of 86.169.168.222

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 86.169.168.222, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheLongTone (talk) 20:36, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, about that speedy

Hi, Yomal. You apparently created the page 86.169.168.222 and it's talkpage in order to ask the IP to register. I'm not sure why TheLongTone marked it as spam; it's hardly that; but it's malformed, because you forgot the "User" namespace marker. It should be a userpage, not an article. I've deleted it. Ghurayf

The source is The History of Kuwait by Michael S Casey. He appears here as Barrak bin Ghuraif and is listed as sheikh of the Bani Kaab from 1669 to 1682. Is this a mistake? Paul S (talk) 15:13, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bani Khalid and Bani Kaab are completely different tribes. Maybe those are two different persons? --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 15:20, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is Bani Khalid. I don't know why I put Bani Kaab there, my mind must have been elsewhere. This isn't my area of expertise at all, I can't recall now why I was looking into the history of this region. Is Casey's version of the name incorrect? Paul S (talk) 19:07, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is incorrect. For some reason, the person's descendants are called Al Urayir, not Al Urayif. Also, I never heard Ghuraif to be an anthroponym. --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 08:46, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In common English usage Ukrainian names are used for places in Ukraine by English language media and scholars these days; so your edit "their best region being Dnepropetrovsk" on UKROP was faulty English (the name of the city is Dnipropetrovsk in English). Please first check the Wikipedia page of a Ukrainian city first and to see how the name of that city is spelled in English before writing about the city on Wikipedia. But it is safe to say that Ukrainian names are used for places in Ukraine by English language media and scholars these days excepte for Odessa and Kiev. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 14:46, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Deal

Hi Yomal, this is Martin of Sheffield. I've reverted your change to New Deal because I think "socialist" is way too left wing for the New Deal changes. PErhaps "social democrat" in the European sense, but socialist implies a communist or similar perspective. If you don't sgree, please take this to the talk page and let's see if we can achieve consensus with all interested editors. Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 23:35, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
