Per WP:NOTNEWS and WP:NOTROUTINE. The shooting received standard coverage in July 2016 but has not mustered any significant sources after this time period. Any news coverage was almost exclusively focused in Minnesota itself, meaning it did not receive significant international coverage. • @TheGracefulSlick:, perhaps because the situation is worse that I thought. Turns out that I wrote article and have been searching under incorrect spelling. Far more coverage comes up is you search Sawani in addition to Sawina. Since I have seen more sources that were not available from the original searches and editors are willing to help expand this article, I say keep the page. • Delete or redirect and merge to Islamophobic incidents. I don't see enough sustained coverage to merit a separate article per WP:EVENT. The content in question seems like an appropriate addition to the US list in Islamophobic incidents. Islamophobia in the United States includes an apparently arbitrary subset of this list, and that section will hopefully be replaced by something more systematic. • Strong Keep This attack is just one in a series of Anti-Muslim violence. Just by a quick google search, I found a few articles discussing this event through August and October, and January. Indeed, most of these sources are specific to Minnesota, but using that logic, we should delete the articles for the 2017 Paris machete attack or the 2017 Chicago torture incident since no sources have been discussing those two events since February. Considering, the perpetrator was just recently convicted three days ago found guilty three days ago and is going to be sentenced in about a month, there might be a resurgence of coverage too. Even the FBI is investigating this, which means it's a federal crime. I agree this article needs lots of work and I will attempt to expand it today or tomorrow, but I am against a merge/deletion. I also agree with Winged Blades that the article should probably be renamed to something like 2016 Anti-Muslim shooting in Minneapolis. Kamalthebest (talk) 23:03, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I will attempt to expand this page either today or tomorrow if that helps. I also believe that the fact that this article is an WP:ORPHAN has prevented it from being expanded by other users, so it needs to be more integrated into Wikipedia.     • I'd also like to note that the 2017 Olathe, Kansas shooting has a Wikipedia page and is strikingly similar, both regarding the motivation behind the attack, and the casualties. • Spelling! I now see that although some news reports have used "Sawini", the spelling I used in article and the spelling that I used in searches over the months since writing the article, there has been ongoing coverage under the proper spelling "Sawani". I assume that not only I, but also Nom and other editors iVoting merge above were misled by the spelling. sigh.
