Adding a new AfD discussion

I think that this article should be reverted to its pre-existing redirect to Members_of_the_Red_Army_Faction#Third_generation_Red_Army_Faction_(1982–1993) on WP:BLPCRIME and GNG considerations. In contrast to other 3rd generation RAF members Daniela Klette and Ernst-Volker Staub, Garweg has not actually been convicted of any crime. Coverage is fleeting, exclusively in the context of suspected activities in the third-generation RAF, and the stronger of the cited sources, Der Spiegel solely frames criminal charges against Garweg beyond association with the third-generation RAF in attribution to the authorities rather than as statements of fact, as well as stating that little is known about Burkhard Garweg (Über Burkhard Garweg ist nur wenig bekannt). _signed, Rosguill ^talk 15:24, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Case of WP:BLP1E: "Being in the news does not in itself mean that someone should be the subject of a Wikipedia article". Per BLP1E we should avoid having articles on individuals that reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event. Also relevant is WP:SUSPECT: "For individuals who are not public figures...editors must seriously consider not including material—in any article—that suggests the person has committed or is accused of having committed a crime, unless a conviction has been secured." Comment This definitely fails sustained and should not have its own article but I feel like given the political motivation there's a plausible redirect target somewhere, where it can be briefly noted. Keep as creator - The article is sufficiently notable because the incident was an attack on a federal agency, was committed in response to a significant event (the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago), resulted in an hours-long chase and standoff and multiple road closures, had widespread media coverage, and prompted statements by multiple prominent public figures. Weak keep. Death toll really doesn't mean anything for notability except it is likely there will be more coverage. Some incidents that killed 20+ people aren't mentioned anywhere on Wikipedia, some incidents where no one died are well referenced and comprehensive and had an effect. The context matters more, and the context of the motive and police here makes me lean keep given the sourcing

Anyway, IMO it is on the edge of NEVENT, since there is later sourcing:

• 2016 One year later: Dallas police headquarters shooting
• 2016 Texas’ Gun Culture and Politics Made Dallas Shooting Inevitable (about the later attack, but opens with several paragraphs discussing this one)
• Lead to upgrades in their security, discussed in 2018 [1] [2] [3]
• 2016 Cop Killers: Fatal Shootings of Police Are Rising

As an ATD merge a small portion to the background section of the 2016 attack on the same police department the next year and redirect, since it seems like relevant context that someone else had tried and failed to do that just the year before, and several reliable sources connect them (and a lot of the same officers were involved). Eh, changing vote to merge relevant content to the background section of 2016 shooting of Dallas police officers. This is probably best served in the context of that, and the comparisons that several sources draw can go in the reactions section. The background section of that article is lacking anyway.
