Former minor league baseball player and current minor league coach. Article does not meet notability guidelines...while player was once on the national team that version of the team does not seem to have played in any notable tournaments. - Comment I have no opinion on this yet but Markvs88 please read WP:GNG part of the guideline you cited: "Multiple publications from the same author or organization are usually regarded as a single source for the purposes of establishing notability." So 4 sources from LA Times become only 1 for GNG standards and that is before you judging if they are WP:SIGCOV. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 17:31, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello Jovanmilic97! Did you notice that while the articles are all published by the LA Times... three of the four are by different authors? So they should not be considered a single source. If someone really wanted to grind on that issue, I've found in the past that it is usually trivial to find a newspaper article reprinted in another paper. - The "Player of the Year" and "Hit and Run" articles are more than routine coverage. Most internet era players do not get stories like that, especially from a paper as widely circulated as the LA Times. That said, the LA Times is still a single source, so at least one additional source is needed before we can start debating whether there is enough coverage to meet GNG. - Keep - Besides the LA Times coverage, at least some of which is not routine, he has also been the subject of stories by at least 2 other sources, The Ventura County Star and South Florida Sun Sentinel. There are a lot more hits on newspapers.com, most of which are clearly routine, but I haven't checked all of them. But even if there is no more non-routine coverage, he has significant coverage from at least 3 sources in 2 states, one of which has massive circulation, so I think he clearly passes the GNG bar. - comment He doesn't meet WP:NBASEBALL and all of this coverage seems to be local sports reporting. His player of the year was from the LA Times for Ventura County (hardly significant), the Ventura County Star was local, and South Florida Sun Sentinel is local for a player at Miami. Coverage all seems like typical local coverage like thousands of others receive annually. Not sure what I'm missing that those enthusiastic keep voters see. - As far as I can tell, "thousands of others" do not get this kind of coverage. I have looked up coverage for numerous players at AfD who have failed NBASEBALL over the past 10 years or so, and from my experience this level of coverage for is very rare for modern players who fail NBASEBALL.
