The result was speedy keep. Nomination withdrawn. The sources BD2412 have provided have convinced me. (non-admin closure) // Timothy :: talk 01:39, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NSCHOOL this article does not meet WP:GNG or WP:NORG. WP:BEFORE revealed only WP:ROUTINE coverage and brief mentions, nothing that meets WP:SIGCOV which addresses the subject directly and in depth and is an WP:IS // Timothy :: talk 07:57, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep. I don't make school articles lightly; they must have significant intersections with notable people or other historical importance. In this case, the institution existed for over a hundred years, had an enrollment of over 500 students at a time when this was well above the size of the typical school, and was in several respects a predecessor institution of Siena Heights University. Newspapers.com returns over 1,200 hits for St. Joseph Academy in Adrian from Michigan news sources alone, and another hundred from Wisconsin, so coverage extends beyond its home state. If not kept, then merge into Siena Heights University, which was established by the same order and which now encompasses the building. BD2412 T 13:26, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge into Siena Heights University. I can see this being a viable option. A search of newspapers.com shows a lot of advertisements and some WP:ROUTINE coverage. The Soul of DNA is not about the building; it is about a person and an event; the book mentions the building, but does not address the subject (the building) directly or in depth. The age or size of the school is not a basis for notability. // Timothy :: talk 16:35, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I disagree with your assessment of the source. It has a solid three+ pages specifically and solely on this institution, including more than half a page just describing the building that was initially used, with its parlors and half-glass folding doors, five music rooms with ceilings "handsomely decorated with paintings of Beethoven, Liszt, Mozart, Wagner, and other eminent composers", other rooms, halls, dorms, and a chapel described with the various colors in which it was painted, and even the size and shading of the grounds. That aside, I spent fifteen minutes looking for sources and found that, so additional searching can be expected to yield more. As noted, the book cited provides references for its various claims and substantial quotes about the school; those other sources therefore exist. BD2412 T 16:52, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Reply: I understand your point. I agree its a nice building and agree because a notable event took place there it will be mentioned. What I am saying is the subject (the school or the building) itself is not notable. It could be included in an article about the notable event that took place there, or in the article about Siena Heights University. // Timothy :: talk 17:31, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
