  • Nominators rationale: Both are separate categories in the parent category Category:History of the United Kingdom by period but looking at the child categories, it's random what periods appear in each category. There is a "History of Scotland/Wales/Ireland/Northern Ireland by period" categories and I think "England" is more clearly a geographic place name than "Britain". If there is an important distinction between the two that is crucial to periodization, that should be noted on both the category pages. Newjerseyliz (talk) 22:13, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well I was wondering why the Category "Industrial Revolution" appeared as a period under Britain. Newjerseyliz (talk) 02:36, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: All of the subcategories in Category:Fiction by nationality are titled "Category: Nationality Fiction" not "Category: Fiction of Country" (from Category:Albanian fiction to Category:Yemeni fiction. Newjerseyliz (talk) 12:11, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It won't be consistent with every other category on nationality in the Fiction Category. Newjerseyliz (talk) 21:24, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you think consistency within the fiction category overrides consistency within the Northern Ireland tree (which was decided at various cfds such as this one and this one)? Oculi (talk) 00:49, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Again, it is the only nationality to have its category named in this way. Please look at Category:Fiction by nationality for comparison. Newjerseyliz (talk) 22:13, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We might name it Category:Northern Ireland fiction to match say Category:Dominican Republic fiction (at least its parent Category:Dominican Republic literature) or Category:New Zealand fiction.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:44, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Subject is a high school, of no particular note; there will never be enough pages related to need this category. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:43, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is about a high school in Sri Lanka. There's never going to be more than the school itself, and there is a very good chance this is the creation of a sock (looking into that now). Qwyrxian (talk) 11:42, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This category reflects an arbitrary inclusion criterion since there is no compelling reason to divide the topic of terrorism in India into pre- and post-2001 periods. India has been plagued for decades by separatist movements that have carried out countless terrorist acts of varying degrees of notability.
Each subcategory is already present in Category:Terrorist incidents in India by year and in two year-based categories: "XXXX in India" and "Terrorist incidents in XXXX". The two templates should be manually moved to Category:Terrorism in India as there is no reason, in principle, to limit them to the post-2001 period. -- Black Falcon (talk) 05:13, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Categorization should be by permanent defining characteristics so a category should not be for "current" things. Therefore, upmerge to (only) parent cat. DexDor (talk) 05:06, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Propose deleting Category:Association of Computing Machinery Distinguished Educators (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Nominator's rationale: Having received an award like this is not generally considered to be a WP:DEFINING characteristic (see WP:OC#AWARD). DexDor (talk) 04:59, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: That has city has organised "a series of sport events with a strong European dimension" is not a WP:DEFINING characteristic of the city. For info: There is a list at European Capital of Sport. A similar category for culture was recently deleted. DexDor (talk) 04:56, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
