Modelled after the List of 2006 Winter Olympics medal winners, there's really not much else to say. Enjoy! -- Scorpion0422 21:10, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Twice in the lead, a redundant "in total" and "overall" is used before a number. While I understand you need this to not start a sentence with a digit, how about rewording the sentences, such as "Medals were won by 450 individual athletes" instead of "A total of 450 individual athletes won medals".
    • Done.
  • At least as an adjective, "cross-country skier" should be hyphenated.
    • Done.
  • I find it unnecessary to both specify the country by name and three-letter code (in addition to the flags, but they are okay).
    • It's the way the template works.
  • Why are countries in italics? The MOS does not permit this sort of formatting.
    • Again, it's the template.
  • How about linking the sports in the 'medal leaders' table.
    • I thought about it, but I decided not to because everything is already linked. Some reviewers will say to link things only once, others will say to link everything in a sortable table.
  • Accessdates are inconsistently formatted.
    • Done.
  • There is inconsistency for linking works and sources in the references; some are linked and some are not.
    • Fixed.

  • "A total of 2,632 athletes..."
    • Done.
  • It's better to say that athletes represent an NOC (an organization) rather than say that they are from an NOC (as in country).
    • Fixed.
  • If the acronym "NOC" is not used more than once, there's no need to specify it after National Olympic Committees.
    • Fixed.
  • "Medals were won by 450 individual athletes." could be merged with the next sentence (e.g. "Medals were won by 450 individual athletes from 26 countries; 19 of these countries secured at least one gold medal.")
    • Done.
  • On the second paragraph, you could link the first instances of "Canada" and "United States" to their "... at the 2010 Winter Olympics" articles, as you do on the last paragraph for Slovakia and Belarus.
    • Done.
  • "Chinese short track speedskater Wang Meng tied Bjørgen for the lead in gold medals, with three." — First, speedskater → speed skater; second, is "with three" really necessary? Bjørgen's gold medals are numbered just one line above... On another note: you could give this sentence some more flavour (e.g. "Chinese short track speed skater Wang Meng was the only other athlete that could tie Bjørgen's gold medal lead". Just a suggestion, nothing compulsory to approve this list.
    • Implemented the first two suggestions.
  • The MoS allows one to increase the image used in the lead section up to 300px.
    • Done.
  • You could add more images (there are loads of free pics from these Games). I'm not saying an image on each sport's medalist table section, but you could do it on the medal leaders section, for example, with one of Bjørgen and Wang Meng... Again, just suggesting.
    • Done.

  • "were opened to men" why not simply "open to men"?
    • Done.
  • "46 events were opened to men, 38 to women and 2 were mixed pairs events" not keen on the repeat of events, perhaps simply "2 to mixed pairs."
    • Done.
  • "the only sport in " I know I hate repetition, but previously you've been using the word "event" to describe these rather than "sport"..
    • sport/discipline is pretty much the same thing. I could switch it to discipline, but then there would be two uses of the word in one sentence.
  • "Canada finished first in gold medal wins and became the first host nation since Norway in 1952 to lead the gold medal count, with 14 gold medals" gold medal repeated thrice. I'd lose the last one, so ending the sentence "with 14."
    • Done.
  • "which was 13," "previously 13"?
    • Done.
  • Any note on why the Men's 20km Individual silver was shared?
    • There was a tie. I added a note about it.
  • Similar sorting issue as before with many of these olympic lists, when sorting by total medals, in descending order, Ohno should sort after anyone with a gold medal who has three medals, and Meng should sort above everyone on three medals as she has three golds. I thought was conventional Olympic medal table formatting? I think 2010 Winter Paralympics medal table (also a current FLC) does it the way I expect...
    • That is the convention, but in this case, there is a cutoff: anyone with 2+ golds or 3+ medals is included. So, to default sort it by gold medals would give the impression that someone who won no golds finished in the top 20 in golds won, which wouldn't be true.
  • Washington Post has a publisher but USA Today doesn't, any reason?
    • The Washington paper lists The Associated Press as the agency, I think should actually be listed as the author, so I switched that.
  • Similarly for some of the other sources.
    • I've tried to make them more uniform.
