There's no reason for a non-free image of a quote to be used when the quote might be able to be added per MOS:QUOTE and WP:TEXTASIMAGES.   • "There's no need for X" isn't really a valid argument, here. You can argue that almost every graphic in every article, other than the first image, and maybe pics of artist paintings or such, are unnecessary. Look at tomato.     • WP:OTHERIMAGE and WP:DELETEALL are not really valid arguements at FFD. This is an image created to show written text; it's not an image file created to show an specific object such as a painting or even a tomato. Why is an image/graphic of written text needed when you simply can add the written text itself to the article per MOS:QUOTE or WP:LONGQUOTE for the reasons explained in WP:MOS#Avoid entering textual information as images? There are other quotes being used throughout the article and they are all in expressed in written text. There is a numbered list being used in Robert A. Heinlein#Heinlein's Rules of Writing being expressed as text. How is this any different?       • No, WP:OTHERIMAGE and WP:DELETEALL completely apply, because you are demanding that all images have some special, unique function. In fact, you're using one of the very arguments that caused people to write up DELETEALL. I remember it. That the text of the quotation can be shown as plain text is irrelevant to whether the image performs an interesting, useful, or informative function. There are many things that can be done more than one way in Wikipedia. That doesn't mean only the Lowest Common Denominator way should be used. That other quotes are being used as written text, obviously, does not establish that all must be. If anything, it's an argument against it, in order to have diversity in presentation. You are making no argument that there is anything wrong or harmful with the graphic, only that you think it's not absolutely necessary to present it in that way.         • You may feel that the image performs an interesting, useful, or informative function, but I and the nominator disagree. That doesn't mean we're right; it just means we disagree. If you are able to establish a consensus for your position, then the file will be kept; if not, it may be deleted. The admin who closes this will read all the comments, evaluate them accordingly, and decide.             • The image you created is yours to license as you please, but the quoted text itself may be copyrighted, which would seem to make the image a derivative work. Even if it's being used as fair use on Wikiquote or other websites, it is treated as non-free content on Wikipedia. Wikipedia's non-free content policy is purposely stricter that the US concept of fair use as explained in WP:NFC#Background. So, if the image is considered non-free content, then the burden is upon the person wanting to use the content to show how the use satisfies relevant policy. This is clearly stated in the instructions to WP:FFD and in WP:NFCCE. The contention of the nominator is that this quote is copyrighted text. That was also the opinion at WP:MCQ#File:Heinlein-competent-man-quote.jpg. Can you explain your reasons why you think this particular quote is not protected by copyright? q:WQ:COPY#Fair use says the nature of the copyrighted work is something which needs to be taken into account. This particular quote is taken from Heinlein's Time Enough for Love (according to q:Time Enough for Love).
