Agenda

Last meeting the attendees discussed what could be improved to make the meetups more effective. The decision was more focus on tools and demonstrations of tools. Please bring a data set with you to practice the quick statements tool to add data into Wikidata.

Einebillion (talk) has approached Wellington City Council Library staff and they have agreed the group can use the large screen TV above the magazine high table for demonstrations. The librarians will provide a cable so laptops can connect to the TV. Ask for the cable at the Librarian desk.

Outcomes[edit]

  1. Get dataset and add into Google sheets
  2. Mind map the wikidata properties I want to add to wikidata. It's helpful to review an example of a Q item that is well populated to work out your template "best practice"
  3. Go to Mix n' Match and enter value to see if Q item is already available on Wikidata and to add identifiers
  4. Either find or create a Q value for the item
  5. Add Q value to column in the google sheet dataset
  6. Add columns into the spreadsheet for the properties you want to populate in wikidata
  7. Then tidy / add data to the spreadsheets so there are values for the properties you've identified
  8. Then review the data and use Quick Statements tool to add that data
  9. Helpful information can be found in the links below - these are also available on the main wellington meetup page.
