I'm thinking about getting a dashcam. If I understand it correctly, the price mostly relies on video capture quality (where, like with TVs, etc, you're kinda paying by the pixel) and number of cameras. Then there's other stuff like charge types, storage, etc. but if those are not important, it's mostly about size and quantity of cameras. For quantity, the basic options are for one (forward facing), two (adding a rear window cam), or more (driver facing, etc.) So, what I'd like to know is: how important is it to have that second camera? Like, in terms of future use in court/insurance, how likely is it that the rear camera is going to come into play? Is there any kind of source showing how well-used the different camera angles are? I'm just talking about private vehicles, so there's not much call for the driver-facing camera, though I guess it could show if we were asleep or something. Failing statistics, is there an "official" recommendation from any kind of driver/car consortium? If it matters, I'm in Ontario, Canada. Matt Deres (talk) 21:47, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
