[edit]Obvious UPE, both accounts editing Draft:Narayan Hulse, with Mercy kiai making other obviously promotional drafts and moving clearly unsuitable drafts to mainspace. Requesting checkuser to see if there's a UPE sock farm, just these two, or if they're just MEAT. As always, thanks for your time. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:05, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]MaxPG88 aroused my suspicion because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dorian Rhea Debussy, where a few COI socks were blocked already (ping Bradv). It seems like someone called in the paid auxiliaries, because what CU revealed (due also to proxies and geolocation) was a connection to a pretty serious sockfarm. Max is also confirmed with Petertipsy, and separately with BNG23, Bogombasharon, Petertipsy, and Peterdelgrim. There's a huge range that Max was on that also had 1stJetintheSkies and a blocked editor, OwlFree, that led me here. Drmies (talk) 22:31, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]User:Andy Creative was recently blocked (on July 26) as a sock of Aniflower. Before being blocked, an IP requested the undeletion of Draft:Godwin Izomor [1]. User:Andy Creative then expanded the draft, before the draft was deleted upon Andy Creative's block. [2]. In early September, Apple pellet requested that the draft be undeleted [3]. Not receiving a response, a new editor, on their first edit, created the draft in full [4] a week later. Just 11 minutes after it was created, Apple pellet moved the article to mainspace [5]
I also note that Apple pellet voted keep on the recent Cad Crowd AfD [6]. That AfD was fuill of sock votes after seven people were hired through Upwork to vote keep there.
It is possible that Apple pellet/Mangorunner are not socks of Aniflower, (one possibility is that they are a new paid editor hired to do the same job), but the timing is close enough to Aniflower to be a concern. However, Apple pellet asking for the draft to be created, Mangorunner creating the draft, and Apple pellet moving it to mainspace just minutes later seems far too coincidental. - Bilby (talk) 01:32, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- Assuming this is Aniflower (I haven't looked at the behaviour, but have no reason to doubt SFR's findings), they are on a new network, and it's one I'm not familiar with. There aren't any other accounts jumping out at me. Closing. Girth Summit (blether) 18:15, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]Proforma - all already blocked. Bbb23 brought some suspicions to my talk page, based on observations of their behaviour; CU puts them on the same IP (or in Koitaleel's case, on the same narrow range) as Sheapill and MlimaMoja, both tagged as socks from this case. Standard behaviour from this farm. Girth Summit (blether) 11:28, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've added Labeltt whose only edit was to create Draft:FavTutor, which was then edited by Kabuos. Because both accounts have made so few edits, I'm requesting CU to confirm and to look for others.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:10, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Mkdw, did you request global locks? --Bbb23 (talk) 13:58, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Bbb23: No I didn't. I didn't see any cross-wiki activity on these accounts with the exception of Bananafisherk who was already blocked elsewhere. Mkdw talk 06:35, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Mkdw, this case indicates at the top that global locks should be requested. I don't know if every sock in this farm is glocked, but the master and many I looked at are. It shouldn't matter whether the latest accounts have edited other projects. Just as we block the person, we glock the person. I've therefore requested glocks and am closing. Bbb23 (talk) 13:49, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- That’s fine. The instructions on the top of the page does not state that it “should be requested” but that reporting it on meta should be “considered” without requirement or obligation. It’s prefaced with the statement that this case may involve cross-wiki abuse which I didn’t see any on the accounts I checked but I see your point about the master avoiding their glock. Mkdw talk 20:15, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I thought you might say that. :-) In my experience, on every case that has the cross-wiki abuse setting, requesting glocks is automatic, which is precisely because of the history of the case. Perhaps we should change the wording of the instruction to more clearly reflect what is expected, don't know.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:22, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, you’re right. When I was reviewing this case and read Timtrent’s comments, I didn’t correctly identify this had already been established. I could have been more thorough in reading the archive. Mkdw talk 21:01, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]I deleted Prince Michael (Mt. Kenya Ambassador) per WP:A7. Looking at the history of this, um, article, I found all the users listed above except Antidotejunior, who intersects with the master on Draft:Small Leaks Sink Ships. Also, based on the deleted history of the master (see Winona Inc.), there may a tie-in to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aniflower. I'm requesting a CU to confirm these accounts to each other (I know that HealTheWorld144 is stale), to cross-check against the other SPI, and to look for others. - UtherSRG, I'm going to stop right here in the middle of it cause I gotta run but I will tell you what I found: the two accounts are close enough for a match. BUT, and this is is interesting and I'm pinging Girth Summit, Amon8kip is a perfect match with User:Koitaleel... I can't comment on the ranges of course--I couldn't even if I had found anything at all. Drmies (talk) 22:28, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Interesting. I was not expecting this. Different "office" in the farm? - UtherSRG (talk) 22:43, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- UtherSRG, it's often like that, particularly with editors from a certain part of the world--really, two certain parts of the world. I ran into one of accounts today: out of nowhere they create an article, knowing how to code and all that, knowing how to submit and how to contact people. My fingers are itching to run the check and I know what I will find, and nine times out of ten I find it--but if I don't find it, then I look like a dick who's been on a fishing expedition and ArbCom will get really upset. Yes, ranges will have different farms, and farms will have different offices; what we used to see, basically one model of article writing (and one type of username, for instance), that's changed a bit: it's like the template has been handed out to different overseers who have a crew working under them, and so you find a bit more variation in usernames and ways of communicating. I've also found that there's a lot less skill in English in the last years or so. Drmies (talk) 23:27, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Roger that. I'll add Koitaleel to the sock list, as well as their master, tag, and ask for clerk to merge. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:15, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- I agree that Aon8kip is undoubtedly the same as Koitaleel, and hence Aniflower. These accounts should be globally locked - I'm requesting that now, will leave the merge to someone more competent at clerking - I'm concerned that with the overlapping edit histories of the cases, I might mess up the hist merge. Girth Summit (blether) 16:44, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
