The account Zotur was globally locked on 15 June. As the relevant activities that led to the locking took place on Wikipedias that I am not familiar with, I can't really say what he did. I do know, however, that it was confirmed that Vorov was a sockpuppet of Zotor on Wikidata. Somehow this was missed on the English Wikipedia. In any case, since the locking of the Zotur account, numerous other accounts have sprung up with the same modus operandi. The nature of this modus operandi is most clear in looking at the edit history of Template:Russo-Ukrainian War. As yet, it is not obvious that these accounts have done anything malicious (outside avoiding scrutiny), but I'm fairly certain that something is going on here. User:RGloucester, I can confirm that all these accounts are mine. But I never used them in the same discussions. Can you block all of them except from one from which I can continue to work? --Chichiguy (talk) 11:23, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My attention was first drawn to the relation between these accounts at Talk:War in Donbas. Alvdal, a new account, started a move request, and Olchug supported it. Noticing the presence of new accounts in a topic area that is very sensitive to sockpuppetry (WP:ARBEE), I looked at Alvdal's contributions, and took note of a few things. One, Alvdal does not act like a new account, with one of his first edits being a change of redirect target, using the word 'target' in his edit summary. Second, we see that there is an active AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Russo-Ukrainian crisis (disambiguation), created by Olchug, which Alvdal supported. The tag-teaming at these two pages is suspicious, but not conclusive. However, what was conclusive was another interaction between these two accounts, at Resolutioners, a stub article created by Olchug about a Scottish political and religious grouping from the time of the British Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Alvdal added new content into this stub article, making these two accounts the only substantive contributors to it. This connection is too strange to be a coincidence, especially for a brand-new account with so few edits (Alvdal). Please do investigate.

As an addendum, there is also the account JanPawel2025. I do not have any conclusive evidence for this account, other than that it is a new account that participated in Alvdal's move request at Talk:War in Donbas. However, I did note one thing that seems to point to this account being related to the other two. Specifically, please note that JanPawel's 'Support' at the War in Donbas discussion is strangely indented under my own comment there. This is not a form of indenting normally seen. Strangely enough, Alvdal used this exact same type of indenting, under my own comment, in his contribution at the AfD that Olchug started. This similarity is very striking. The first edit was 28 March, just after the previous accounts were blocked. Contributions to multiple projects, including ru, de, nl. Strong interest in British-Irish and Russia-Ukraine relations; I noticed that like the previous accounts he is active at RfD in this regard: RfD for Ukraine-Russia border crisis, Great Britain redirects. I also see a lot of work with political categories, which is a match for the Heanor account. -- Tavix (talk) 14:20, 13 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Created the day after Balkovec's block. Clearly not a new user, knowing policies like WP:CONSISTENT and installing scripts. Continued interest in HotCat and categorization, going through a series of pages by country (see nearly the entire contribution history of Epq0 and for example these Balkovec edits. eviolite (talk) 20:01, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

(i) The IP added its support here at a CfD thread to keep a category proposed for deletion which was created by a Dolyn sock, Epq0. (ii) The IP geolocates to a place in the Netherlands near the geolocation of another IP address, 145.108.173.220 which the Dolyn SPI archive lists as a checkuser confirmed Dolyn sock (iii) The contribs of the IP are very similar (categories and redirects etc) to the Epq0 sock. Follows the exact same patterns as all other Dolyn sockpuppets. Interest in redirects, Irish, Ukrainian, and Dutch matters. Tons of overlap. I no longer have time to patrol the relevant pages. I really would appreciate if, in future, someone could watch the some of the major pages to prevent Dolyn from so easily coming back into action. RGloucester 10:47, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

BlackBony was blocked on 23 July and Waltermaid picked right back up where he left off on 25 July. Same interests: political systems, Ukraine, and especially categories and redirects therein. That being said, the last few times Dolyn's socks have appeared at SPI, I have requested a merge of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lagelander but this hasn't happened yet. To be fair, I haven't put together a strong case for doing so, but now I have the time so let's do it: Lagelander was blocked 01:50, 17 December 2021 and Heanor's first edit was later that same day: 10:28, 17 December 2021. Northumber started Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 December 22#Kurdish–Turkish conflict shortly before he was blocked, but the mantle was taken up by Heanor: Talk:Kurdish–Turkish conflict (1978–present)#Requested move 6 March 2022. Most of Northumber's edits before he was blocked were edits for the phrase "Eastern Orthodox" (eg: [1] [2]). This was also something Heanor took interst in: [3] [4]. Cheselden's project was Ukrainian municipalities, including a series of edits to Zaporizhzhia City Council [5]. When Heanor circled around to that project, that was one of the first articles he edited [6]. -- Tavix (talk) 01:00, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Edits of this IP, most recent first:

  1. Reinstating a DAB page previously created by a Dolyn sock.
  2. Starting a requested move to move an article to a title a Dolyn sock previously moved it to
  3. Ditto (IP edit, sock move)
  4. Making an edit to a dab page largely identical to a previous edit to the same DAB page by a Dolyn sock.

Account created on 9 August 2022, two days after Waltermaid (talk · contribs) was blocked. All edits are wikilink changes from "War in Donbass" to "Russo-Ukrainian War", same as Waltermaid. The user has also repeatedly linked to an RfD discussion started by Waltermaid: Special:Diff/1104093828, Special:Diff/1104094055. Kleinpecan (talk) 16:56, 12 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sleeper account that woke up interested in the same things previous accounts were known for: creating redirects associated with Ukraine-Russia, Ireland-UK, and Christian history. Already familiar with how RfD and Twinkle works. One quirk that caught my eye: the use of a capitalized "Reply" on replies [7] which Dolyn socks have been known to do (eg: Privybst, Waltermaid, BlackBony, Balkovec.) -- Tavix (talk) 00:52, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Created shortly after the most recent socks in this SPI report were blocked in January. Same early pattern of making hundreds of minor edits in a short span to previous socks ([8], [9]), with high knowledge of Wikipedia. Same interests, most bizarrely their recent post here seems to almost directly copy another user they replied to here. Overlap with recent socks, intense and precocious interest in CfDs and category space (compare [10][11], [12][13] etc.), interest in Russia/Ukraine topics, mass creation of redirects [14][15], similar username to other socks (a short nonsense word, c.f Dolyn, Onlk, Palyb, Gliwrit). I was looking at this editor after they emptied a category about Mandatory Palestine and another, more experienced editor, reverted their edits. I was struck by an edit they made to Agony (diff1) which was similar in substance to an edit by User:Onlk (diff2), a Dolyn sock about agony not being a form of suffering or pain. They also share a similar interests with Dolyn socks in categories and matters involving the sovereignty of states in different parts of the world, from Asia to Europe. Recently, Bartlea has been editing categories about Palestine, including Category:Palestinians, a category that another Dolyn sock, User:Nagsb, nominated at CFD for renaming. With a history of so many sockpuppets, I assume SPI clerks and checkusers will be familiar with their interests and know whether or not this is another sockpuppet. I'm not sure how effective checkuser would be as I"m sure they will just create a new sock if this one is blocked rather than creating multiple socks at the same time. Liz Read! Talk! 19:47, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Looking at the SPI archive for Dolyn, there has been a history of multiple socks so maybe a checkuser check is warranted even though one was just done earlier this week. Liz Read! Talk! 19:53, 29 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for the quick action. I guess with the sockmasters that are prolific, they are easier to identify when they return. Liz Read! Talk! 02:13, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Precocious new account with very similar interests: closing old CfDs (Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 September 4#Greek Orthodoxy, compare Naqsb closing Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2023 March 14#Category:Fictional females), out-of-process category emptying (compare User talk:Kpratter#Administrative divisions of Russia with the Bartlea filing in the archives), interest in Russia/Ukraine topics (User talk:Kpratter#September 2023, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dolyn/Archive#24 April 2023 was known for that), and in creating Ireland-relared redirects ([16], compare redirect-creation mentioned many other times in the archive). Also their first edit was to file a properly formatted AfD and notify WikiProjects of it, so they're clearly not new. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:52, 10 October 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
