Suspected sockpuppets
[edit]
SPA accounts POV editing on a very narrow range of company and company connected articles. Here are the account histories of the suspected socks. [[1]], [[2]], [[3]] Original suspected sock with history of political POV pushing [[4]] The last one may be canvassed but shares a similar POV editing history and coincidentally suddenly appeared to comment at AfD [[5]] Related ANI activity opened here as well for Mywikiupdates: [[6]] TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:27, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Accused parties may also comment/discuss in this section below. See Defending yourself against claims.
Those IPs are mine. I edited both the page (Sprinklr and Sprinklr deal controversy) and its Afd from my IP addresses before having an account here. I'm a new user who is learning the editing through YouTube videos. I have no connection with any user mentioned above.Akv007 (talk) 17:21, 15 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw this on the Sprinklr talk page. First edit in almost 2 1/2 years, promoting a similar POV. [[7]] TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:56, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Linojohn90 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) is now picking up where the others left off, adding sloppily written info insinuating some kind of wrongdoing. This case is being reviewed by RoySmith as part of the clerk training process. Please allow him to process the entire case (including admin actions against suspected socks) without interference, and pose any questions or concerns either on his talk page or on this page if more appropriate.
- @Callanecc: The multi-way interaction around Sprinklr and account ages make it likely Electiondata, Akv007, and Kslm are all socks. Donvijay1 and Mywikiupdates, unlikely. Akv007's first edit looks very much not like what a new user's first edit would be. I'd endorse for CU, noting that only some of the users in the case are likely suspects. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:53, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- RoySmith, yep, sounds good. It's still possible that Donvijay1 and Mywikiupdates are related but I agree that it's less likely. My gut feel is that this is meatpuppetry, but CU will give us some more information. Callanecc (talk • contribs • logs) 09:41, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- CheckUser requested and endorsed by clerk -- RoySmith (talk) 15:56, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I checked three of the users and they are in the same country, but not on the same ranges. I'll leave the checks at that. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 04:57, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Clerk note: @Callanecc: I spent some more time looking at the contribution histories, etc, and I'm still where I was before, which is that socking seems likely. But, there wasn't enough before the CU to block on, and the CU didn't add anything, so I'm thinking there's nothing to do here. I'll add Krishferrare (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) as another suspect, but other than that, I'd suggest closing this with no action. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:59, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- RoySmith, yeah I agree. We're on the borderline of having enough evidence to block them as sockpuppets. I've semi protected Sprinklr for a month to try and stop any additional accounts coming along. If the disruptive editing continues, the accounts can be reported to ANI and will likely be blocked for disruptive editing but there's no non-SPI admin action that I would be willing to take at this stage without a more thorough review of conduct (such as at ANI). - Closing, no action taken. I've added Sprinklr to my watchlist. -- RoySmith (talk) 14:58, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
