The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct. The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
A more detailed description of the coordinators' responsibilities is available here; some specific examples of day-to-day coordinator work can be found here.

Election process
- The election will run for about four weeks, starting at 00:00 (UTC) on October 28 and ending at 23:59 (UTC) on November 28.
- Any member of the project may nominate themselves for a position by adding their statement in the "Candidates" section below by the start of the election. The following boilerplate can be used:
=== Name ===
((user|Name))
: Statement goes here...

- The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support as many of the candidates as they wish. The candidate with the highest number of endorsements will become the Lead Coordinator (provided he or she is willing to assume the post); the next eight candidates will become Assistant Coordinators. The number of Assistant Coordinators may be increased if there is a tie or near-tie for the last position.
- Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or make general comments once the voting phrase commences on October 28.
- Voting is now concluded.

- Hi guys. Some of you may know me from my work in and around the Shannara universe. Otherwise, I doubt that you know me, because I either work there or in the realm of military history. :D
- My contributions to novel-related articles/the Novels WikiProject include:
- Outside of novels:
- Anyway, enough promoting myself...=/...I'm running for coordinator not so much because I want to, but mainly because I worry that we will need an extra coordinator or two...I feel bad for lonely Maria (who is now not standing for re-election... =/). I'll be honest from the start and say that my attention will be split between WP:MILHIST and WP:NOVELS, but I will spend more time here if I am elected. :)
- What will I do if elected: I'll keep my eye on the peer review department, the Shannara task force, and the General Forum. I'll review as many articles as I can, and I'll answer any questions that I know the answer too. Anyway, good day and cheers! —the_ed17— 03:25, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Not-so joyous day...Maria/Yellosubmarine is not standing for re-election. =( So I'll expand my scope: if I am elected, I'll definitely keep my eye on the General Forum, the peer review department and the assessment department, but I will probably keep plugging away at my MILHIST articles at the same time. (I'm trying to get the Alaska-class battlecruiser articles to Good Topic...) —Ed 17 for President Vote for Ed 15:08, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I have been around this WikiProject since very early on. I put in lots of work here and there.
- Only open for an Assistant Coordinators position as I can't predict how much time I will get.
- Quite happy to help out regardless of result of election.
- Generally focused on Project structure, article tagging, clearing generic stubs and categories and other stuff I can't remember.
- Seeing the interests of the_ed17 above it would be nice to co-ordinate with WP:MILHIST more and maybe get a joint military novel / short story literature task force on the cards.
