Scope

The scope of the project includes all Japanese tokusatsu productions and any adaptations of them in other languages. More specifically, the project will include:

Kaiju films (Godzilla, Gamera, etc.)
The Ultraman series
The Super Sentai series
The Kamen Rider series
The Metal Hero Series
Other Toei Superheroes
The Chouseishin Series
And other pages in Category:Tokusatsu

As well as their English language adaptations:

While not specifically part of the project (as such articles are not focused on tokusatsu), the following topics should be looked into as well:

Cast (e.g. Haruo Nakajima), crew (e.g. Eiji Tsuburaya), distribution companies (e.g. Toei Company), and production companies of tokusatsu-related items (e.g. Toho).

Our scope does not include:

Fanfiction and fan culture;
Japanese media using only visual effects such as Computer-generated imagery or anime rather than traditional Japanese effect techniques (such as suitmation or miniature models), exemptions include films featuring some traditional tokusatsu sequences such as the anime film The End of Evangelion (1997), Shin Godzilla (2016), and Shin Ultraman (2022);
Dōjinshi;
Any other form of speculation; and
Works with only a passing reference to tokusatsu.

Guidelines, layouts and advice

Official guidelines and advice

We strive to comply with all Wikipedia guidelines. The ones here are listed for convenience and also may be particularly helpful when editing tokusatsu-related articles:

The Japanese language

Utilize the ((Nihongo)) template instead of the makeshift one (English and then kanji/kana in parenthesis followed by romaji in italics). If the katakana or kanji is unknown, check the page at the Japanese Wikipedia (日本語のウィキペディア, Nihongo no Uikipidīa).

Power Rangers

Episodes should not have their own article (this is not a catch-all; major exceptions include Day of the Dumpster and possibly some others). They should be put in a "List of xxx episodes" article.
The tables on Power Rangers articles should be phased out entirely. They should be replaced with a terse character section, describing the character, such as sections at Mighty Morphin Power Rangers#The Power Rangers, GoGo Sentai Boukenger#Characters, and Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger#Characters. No colored text should be utilized in this process. The only thing that should be linked to are the following:
- The character's section in a separate article or the character's article
- An article on the actor who plays said character.
Create a common and consistent outline to be used for each individual Power Rangers series
- All series articles should include Synopsis, Characters, Arsenal, Zords, and Episodes (and under these common titles)
- Reach a consensus to either create/expand other "common" sections featured in only a couple series (including Production History, Uniqueness of the Series) or remove/integrate the information into other sections.

- Update hurricanegers to satisfy Wikipedia standards for quality. (Currently marked as requiring copy-editing. Also no references shown.)
