Now here, we're gonna transclude (not link to), /test page two. Pay particular attention to the answer to question #3, which presumably is different when transcluded onto this page, than when examined directly on the subpage:

Template:Move notice test

This section and the one below it are here to provide test cases for testing the template User:Mathglot/sandbox/Templates/Template:move notice. In brief, this template is for notifying users about a discussion about a pending move, analogous to the way ((Afd notice)) is used for deletion discussion notification. See the template doc for full details. Several test cases below show results of subst'ing the template, with various combinations of args:

No args - what happens?

The test below is the result of:

((subst:User:Mathglot/sandbox/Templates/Template:move notice)) ~~~~:

Move notice for ARTICLE NAME

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article ARTICLE NAME should be renamed TARGET NAME according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

The article will be discussed at the article's talk page until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines. Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before participating in the discussion.

Users may edit the article during the discussion. However, do not remove the requested move notice from the top of the article. Mathglot (talk) 02:57, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Dashboard.wikiedu.org assignment "is or was"

Testing template User:Mathglot/sandbox/Templates/Dashboard.wikiedu.org assignment, which attempts to generate the correct tense verb for the combination of |start_date=, |end_date=, and |term=. (Term currently not included; will require some string processing.)

Note that "empty" param cases not written yet; e.g., |start_date= as opposed to no start_date param at all.

no start or end_date

No start or end_date usually means in the past, as the dashboard automatically assigns both; missing params (especially if |term= is present) probably means someone removed start and end_date and subsituted term for a completed course).

start_date, no end_date

The no end_date case wasn't tested for; this is an easy fix.

start_date, empty end_date

start_date, invalid end_date

Note: This test case generates a red template error "Expression error: Unexpected < operator" if an invalid date like '2017-13-32' is passed to it:

As of rev 915273391 an invalid date generates "is or was" instead of a template error. Although since the assignment templates are generated off the wiki ed dashboard, it may be overkill to explicitly test for invalid dates.

start_date and end_date in the past

start_date in past, and end_date in the future

Conclusions

Works well enough for what it's designed for. Occurs to me now, that the concept may have utility beyond this one template. Rather than includeing the parser code to test for present/past dates here, there should be a new Template:Is or was (and Template:Are or were) that take some kind of date param, and isolate all the parser code there. Then, templates like ((Dashboard.wikiedu.org assignment)) can merely invoke it (as, ((is or was|(({end_date))} ))) which keeps the code simpler in the Wiki Ed Assignment template, as well as making the functionality more generally available to others.

In fact, there should be two: a Template:Is past which returns bool ('1' means argument passed was in the past), and then one or more templates that transclude it, so that Template:Is or was would invoke 'Is past' and then generate the proper string.

v1 test: compare ((To USD)) and ((sigfig)) with 'To USD round' v1 (copy of orig, stripped of arg3 'round'):

Examples:

Portuguese name

Before even getting into the new version, the existing version seems to be screwed up. It currently has an ifexpr on param one, but the doc lists it as required. OTOH, the ifexpr only moderates what the display of maternal name renders as, whereas the preceding string, the first or maternal family name is... is hard-coded and not dependent on the ifexpr, as it should be. Some tests:

  1. ((Portuguese name|Alves|Silva)) =
  2. ((Portuguese name|first=Alves|second=Silva)) =
  3. ((Portuguese name|second=Silva)) =

Here's an inline ((Ambox)):

This article currently links to a large number of disambiguation pages (or back to itself). Please help direct these ambiguous links to articles dealing with the specific meaning intended. Read the FAQ.

Copied the Ambox to new template /Templates/Dablinks. Here are two calls to it:

Test links from [[War of 1812]]:

((/Templates/Dablinks|1=Moraviantown))
((/Templates/Dablinks|Moraviantown))
((/Templates/Dablinks|Moraviantown|Revolutionary War|James Dacres|John Lambert|Six Nations|St. Simons|Saint-Simon))

Expected in this version: the show/hide link shows up again, and boilerplate 'Foo', but no links shown.
